Good morning P2/3!
I hope you are all well. I’ve attached the Home learning Grid for this week again, some of the web links weren’t working on it properly. I’ve fixed this so it should work now. P2_3 Home Grid 27 April
Here are some activities to try today.
Literacy
Use the procedure layout to help you write instructions for how to brush your teeth. When you are finished, try to follow your instructions to see if they make sense.
Maths
Log on to Education City, and you will see that I have set some challenges on the P2/3 classwork page about estimating numbers within 100.
https://www.educationcity.com/
PE
Try to practise some of your ball skills using this clip to help you master how to throw a ball. https://vimeo.com/402212771
Health and wellbeing
Make a poster for a younger sibling or a nursery child to encourage them to brush their teeth. Include bright colours and detailed pictures.
Good luck and keep working hard.

Hello Primary one!
Here are the resources to go with today’s activities shown on the weekly learning grid.
Literacy
Practice sights words in word tub including new ones in home learning pack (they have the camera image in the corner of them).
Practice speed reading some sight words on a game on education city called Sparkler. I’ve added it to the classroom activities on the sight.
Writing: Select two of this weeks ‘ai’ spelling words and include each of them in a sentence. Think about using capital letters, spacing and full stops. Draw a picture to go with each sentence.
Maths
Select two activities from your number grid.
Practice using your ten frame (blue foam grid with foam dots in your learning pack). Look at all the different ways you can make ten…7+3=10 (7 red counters and 3 blue counters on the frame). How many can you find? write down all the numbers bonds you can make to 10.
Here is a flash game for the ten frame you could also play https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8U_zZ-rW1E
PE
Get a soft teddy or toy ready for this challenge. Follow this video clip to practice some catching, throwing and balancing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUUW3BKg0vo

Good morning Primary 1
Literacy
Spelling: Yesterday we learned about the ‘ai’ sound. Today you could use these spelling words to help you practice it more…rain, sail, pail, nail, mail: read, write and draw them in your jotter to help you learn them.
Reading: Use the link to select a book at your age/level, read aloud with an adult and then tell the story back to them in your own words. Think about who the main characters were, what were the order of events? What part did you like the best? https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/books/free-ebooks/
Maths
Select two tasks from your number grid, keep practicing the tricky ones! Also revise counting in 10’s to 100, there is an activity set for you on Education City to try.
Patterns: take a look at Education City for a pattern task, there is also a task sheet, if you are not able to print it just write it into your jotter.t-n-192-repeating-pattern-activity-sheets-shapes–_ver_1 Pattern maths aid
STEM
Watch the attached video clip about how rainbows are formed…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCPPLhPTAIk&t=6s
If you can, copy the experiment at home with an adult. What do you see?!
You could also try building your own rainbow using Lego, here are some ideas to help you…Building Brick Flashcards if you don’t have any Lego you could try using play dough or any other colourful items around the house.
Don’t forget to send any pictures of your work to the school if you can!
Writing
Think back to the STEM rainbow video, or watch it back again, can you draw and label a detailed picture that shows what happened in the experiment using the mirror and glass of water? What else did you need? Under your labeled diagram write a few short sentences to explain what happened in your own words.

I went out for my early morning walk this morning and saw 2 of these. They were swimming in a large pond in a woodland area and didn’t fly away when I walked past. Do you think they might be brave birds or might there be a reason they did not fly away?
Challenge – Can you find out what type of bird they are? Can you find out any other information about them ?
