Primary 1 Friday 1st May

Good morning Primary 1, its the start of a new month!

For today’s learning you could…

Literacy

Ask someone to test you on your ‘ai’ spelling words or just  keep practicing them. Read them out loud, draw them, spell them , find them in a book…there are lots of ways to practice.

You could also put yourself to the test with this ICT game, listen carefully and decide if its a real word, or a bin word. When setting up the game select the ‘ai’ and ‘oo’ sound. Press the pirate coin to start the game.

https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/poopDeck/index.html

Maths

Practice some more with your 10 frame using some of the activities set earlier this week.

Numbers to 50/100. Ask someone at home to say out loud numbers between 0-50, or 1-100. Try writing the number, think about how it is written and number formation.

Enjoy the long Weekend Primary 1 and I will see you here again on Wednesday the 6th May!

Take care

Primary 1 Thursday 30th April

Good morning Primary one, I hope you are all safe and well!

Reading

Use oxford owl to select a book at your age/stage to read aloud with an adult. Before you start, look at the front cover, find the title, author and illustrator. What do you think the book is about, predict something you think might happen. Record the book you read in your jotter. what would you give it out of 5?

https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page

Maths

Select two activities from your number grid.

Use your 10 from to look at all the numbers you can add to 5, record the sums you make in your jotter, there are 5 to find. (5+1, 5+2, 5+3, 5+4, 5+5)

Here is a game you can play to practice working with your ten frame and number bonds to 10. https://www.nctm.org/Classroom-Resources/Illuminations/Interactives/Ten-Frame/

Topic: Africa!

I am looking forward ti having lots of fun with this topic!

As an introduction you could try some mapping work. Look at a map of the world, can you find Africa on the map? Now try looking for the UK where we live, look at the distance between the two countries? Think about how we could travel there? What transport could we use? How long do you think it would take?

Now try using Google Earth to explore the lands of Africa, draw or write some of the things you see! https://www.google.co.uk/intl/en_uk/earth/
