Primary 1 Wednesday 10th June

Good Morning P1!

Learning ideas for today…

Literacy

Practice your sight words (reading and writing)

Writing Task: Last week we looked at bossy words…

Now think about brushing your teeth. Its something we do 2 or 3 times a day to keep our teeth healthy. Look at the attachment below, its a picture sequence of how we brush our teeth.

brush your teeth

You could even go to the bathroom and brush your own teeth before this task to help you think about all the actions and the order you do them in.

Use the pictures to help you write ‘bossy’ sentences that match the pictures. Or draw your own set of picture instructions about how to brush your teeth.

To put your instructions to the test, why don’t you get someone to use your instructions and see how well they are able to brush their teeth when following them!

Number

Number grid activity

Taking away within 10. Play the Lazy Lambs game on Education City.

Use a dice to roll a number and take it away from 10. Remember you can use your 10 frame to help you! You could also practice writing the sum down.

STEM

Listen to the story of the Gingerbread man…

Now take a look at the task below, your challenge is to design and set a trap for the gingerbread man…remember to send any pictures if you get the chance!

STEM Activity

Have fun!

Primary 1 Tuesday 9th June

Good morning P1!

Ideas for today’s learning are…

Literacy

Read a fictional book with someone at home. Select one from home or from Oxford Owl online.

Can you count how many sentences there are on each page? Remember a sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop.

How many ‘ee’ words can you find?

Can you spot any other punctuation, for example, !?.

Numeracy

Select a task from number grid.

Practice counting in 10’s. You can count out loud with an adult and play the game on education city. You can also sing along to the song below.

Topic

Traditional Games

You could try this with stones or anything else soft and small.

Have fun with these P1! You could try making up your own clapping game!

Primary 1 Monday 8th June

Hello Primary 1, we have reached week 10! I am very proud of how you are all doing! Not long till the holidays now!

I have attached this weeks learning Grid bellow

P1 HL grid 8th June

Here are some learning ideas for today…

Literacy

Do one of the Read, spell write cards from your HL pack. Remember to think about letter formation, finger spacing and staying on the line.

Numeracy

Select an activity from your number grid.

Making 10: how many ways can you make the number 10. Think of numbers you can add together. If you fancy a challenge you could try coming up with some subtraction sums that make 10. Remember you can use for ten frame or other small items to help you.

I have also added some number games to Education City for our learning this week. They include adding to 10 and counting in 10’s.

Art

Take a look at some of the work by a Scottish Artist called Steven Brown. Look at his bold use of colour!

Now take a look at the power point and try to draw your own highland cow in the style of Steven Brown. You will need paper and colours (pens, pencils or crayons). Or you could go digital and draw it on your ipad or computer device.

Steven Brown Step-by-Step Highland Cow PowerPoint

Enjoy your day Primary 1!

Primary 2/3 Monday 8th June 2020

Good Morning P2/3 another great week ahead of learning for you all.

Literacy – Spelling words

‘y’ words

by, my, try, cry

fly, spy, why, shy

flying, trying, crying, myself

Choose 4 of the words to carry out spelling activities and write sentences.

Look out for any ‘y’ words in your reading book.

Continue to practice tricky words.

Maths

We were allocated our on line Teejay Textbook last week and you all checked you could access it. So today we will go onto Dynamic Learning using the link I sent, Once on the site go to DL icon, click on it then on the 1a textbook. This will allow access to the textbook.

Use your jotter and remember to set your answers out neatly and well-spaced.

Measure p 144 and p145

Art

Slick Art

You may have heard the old saying “oil and water don’t mix,” and while that may be true, when you combine the two, some pretty and interesting images can be the result. In a wildlife setting, oil spills can upset the natural balance of an environment and cause a lot of trouble for the animals and plants that call a habitat home. So it’s probably best that the combination of the two should stay on the crafts table—and out of nature!

https://kids.sandiegozoo.org/videos/slick-art

Or if the weather is lovely you could make some flower people like these.

.

Have a lovely day and you can always email your art pictures.
