Primary 1/2

Homework

P1 have had the letter ‘a’ sent home this week. Using the sound images/templates sent home so far. children should practice writing the letters, sounding them as taught in class and thinking of words that start with them. They could also draw things that start with the sounds. This can be recorded in their red jotter.

Using the Math wall children can select one or two tasks a week to help practice their number skills.

P2 have reading books sent home to help practice fluency. They should also revisit and practice their site words in their tubs from last year. Spelling has also been sent home, for future spelling i will send the words home on paper to be copied into their jotters. A number task sheet will also be sent home next week.

Primary 1/2 have been enjoying their topic through Julia Donaldson Books. This week has been the Gruffalo. We have been enjoying the story, making masks, learning about rhyme, descriptive writing and looking at the animals that live in the forest.

Primary 1/2

Good afternoon.

In P1/2 we have been busy re-capping our previous learning in literacy and numeracy. We have also been introducing new sounds and working on our number skills. Health and well-being has been another focus giving us lots of opportunities to talk about our emotions and how we are all coping settling back into our new routines. Homework tasks linked to class learning will be posted on the blog starting next week.

Primary 2/3 week beginning 24th August 2020

It was lovely having all the children back in class last week, they have settled well and we have created  2 lovely wall displays – well done everybody!

Our spelling words for the week are listed below and we have some tricky words to practice, we also have the Fry’s  word list as an extension.  Choose 6 words from the spelling list below and write sentences.Carry out some tasks from our homework grid as well.

Homework jotters will be given out with a reading book on Monday and can I ask that these be returned on Thursday so that we can store for 72 hours. Children will be working on different reading books in class during the week.

It was so lovely to welcome all the children back to school last week, we’ve really missed them!  We are very proud of how well they are adapting to all the changes.

Here is a brief overview of Primary 3/4 which you may find helpful.

A monthly homework grid for September will be issued soon.

We will be assessing all the children over the next couple of weeks and weekly spelling and reading homework will be allocated to each group, more details will be shown in the homework grid.
