Be Your Best

Prinmary 6/7 – Friday 3rd May 2024

Primary 6/7 have had a fantastic week with lots of engaging learning activities in class. On Friday morning, we discussed our week in school and decided that we would like to share these thoughts about our learning this week:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We loved our volleyball session in PE as it was fun to start playing games and see how the skills that we’ve been working on translate into game situations
  • The Primary 7s enjoyed their literacy transition work on the novel “Holes” this week as they started get a little further into the story
  • We really enjoyed continuing with our writing activity where we had to write a response text about the short animation “Coin Operated” as it is an interesting short cartoon
  • We enjoyed our art activity with Mrs Denholm to design a paddle board because we could create our own design for this competition
  • We enjoyed learning about division again in Maths as it was great to review what we know about division and extend our strategies for doing mental division calculations
  • We enjoyed hearing about the artist Keith Haring and had fun trying to create artwork using his unique Pop Art style

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • Some of us felt that our Writing task was a wee bit tricky as it was a bit difficult to come up with paragraph ideas because it was such a short animation
  • A few of the Primary 7s found it difficult to start thinking about our nursery and primary school memories as we start preparing for our leaver’s assembly
  • Some of us found Maths a bit difficult as our division calculations needed us to use our times table knowledge quickly and accurately

Our lead learners were Alieu, Chloe, Brodie and Shiva.  They have decided on the following three targets for the class; to be resilient in PE, to not throw things in the classroom and to be responsible in the playground. We are continuing to work on these targets next week so we will report back on our progress with them next Friday. Well done for a brilliant week, P6/7.
