Primary 6/7 – Friday 10th January (78th anniversary of the Burngrange Disaster)

Primary 6/7 have had a wonderful first week back, with lots of great learning activities in class. On Friday morning, we discussed our week in school and decided that we would like to share these thoughts about our learning:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We really enjoyed PE this week as it was our last Tag Rugby session and we played a lot of games
  • We have enjoyed our learning focus on the Burngrange disaster and the learning that we did in Topic about this event and our newspaper report task in Writing about this tragedy which actually happened 78 years ago today
  • Our Primary 6 pupils enjoyed starting their buddying sessions with the Nursery children
  • We enjoyed finishing off our work on Fractions in Maths and creating posters to demonstrate our knowledge and learning
  • We enjoyed starting our Burns focus again and starting to prepare for our Burns Supper by choosing our poems for recital and singing some of our Scottish songs again

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning):

  • Some of us felt a little disappointed that we are finishing up with Tag Rugby as we have really enjoyed this focus in PE
  • Some of us felt that it was a little tricky to research information about the people who died in the Burngrange Disaster
  • Some of us feel a little worried about having to learn our Scots poems during our current Scottish focus

Our lead learners for this week were Preston, Harvey, Julia and Meg. They set the following class targets for the week; be sensible using laptops and devices in school, don’t be disrespectful and be kind to our pupil support workers. Our lead learners witnessed lots of our class meeting these targets, which was wonderful to see.

Our school value award winners for this week are Jake and Oscar.

Well done for a brilliant week, P6/7. Have a lovely weekend.
