Be Your Best

Primary 6/7 – Friday 26th April 2024

Primary 6/7 have had a wonderful week with lots of interesting learning activities in class. On Friday morning, we discussed our week in school and decided that we would like to share these thoughts about our learning this week:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We loved our outdoor learning on Monday as it was great fun delivering leaflets to houses in our school community about our work in school on children’s rights
  • We enjoyed our PE with Mrs Denholm because of the Olympics theme and the variety of activities
  • We enjoyed our writing activity where we had to write a response text about the short animation “Coin Operated” as it was something quite different for a writing task
  • We had great fun with our buddies and loved that they were reading to us this week and we enjoyed exploring the books together
  • We had lots of fun in with volleyball in PE this week
  • Our four Primary 7 pupils who represented the school at the Rotary Club quiz had great fun and represented the school fabulously. They also did a wonderful job managing to achieve fourth place out of fifteen schools

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • Some of us felt that the “Coin Operated” writing task was a wee bit tricky as it was a bit difficult to think up different themes for each paragraph in this response text
  • A few of the Primary 7s found the Literacy transition lesson on “Holes” a bit tricky as the questions from the DCHS English teacher were difficult
  • Some of us found the Maths work with time a little tricky, especially the work with time measurements of less than a second

Our lead learners were Megan, Alieu, Logan and Chloe.  They had decided on the following three targets for the class; to show respect to others including teachers, pupils support workers and other children, to focus well in Writing and Debating and to try to wear uniform to school most days. They identified lots of children in class meeting all three of the targets that they set, which is great news. Well done for a brilliant week, P6/7.
