We have had a very busy week this week and have enjoyed being back in class after our holiday.

Things that have gone well.

Times Tables – We have had a big focus on learning our times tables this week and are all feeling more confident, we have made games, had quizzes, challenged each other with whiteboards and number fans often finishing the day with a Blooket.

West Lothian Writers- We had a visit from 4 writers who took part in a shared piece of writing with our class, everyone had to write a descriptive piece from a picture. We shared our writing and gave each other feedback. It was a great experience . We then created a quiz for Mrs Egan and some other teachers to see if they could tell which phrase was written by a member of our class or by a West Lothian Writer.

We have been learning about different types of bridges and the role of an engineer this week as we have investigated the closure of M8 J3 and the work Bear Scotland are currently involved in. We will be taking part in a Stem challenge investigating cantilevers. We began to investigate different designs using the kapla.

We have had items donated for our West Lothian Financial Inclusion Network, collecting new and nearly new items of clothing for charity. Our Health and Wellbeing Champions think we will soon be able to deliver this to the charity.

Kids Gone Wild- We learned to safely dig a fire pit and light a fire, we then had to leave the environment the way we had found it. Our session was completed by roasting marshmallows and eating smores.

Things that were tricky.

Some of us found multiplying  larger numbers a bit tricky and had to really think about how we set it out.

Some of us were using publisher and word found it was tricky inserting some pictures into a document, also saving work and knowing where it has saved too!  We will continue to develop these skills.

We have had a great week in P5/6
