Good morning Primary 1

Literacy

Spelling: Yesterday we learned about the ‘ai’ sound. Today you could use these spelling words to help you practice it more…rain, sail, pail, nail, mail: read, write and draw them in your jotter to help you learn them.

Reading: Use the link to select a book at your age/level, read aloud with an adult and then tell the story back to them in your own words. Think about who the main characters were, what were the order of events? What part did you like the best? https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/books/free-ebooks/

Maths

Select two tasks from your number grid, keep practicing the tricky ones! Also revise counting in 10’s to 100, there is an activity set for you on Education City to try.

Patterns: take a look at Education City for a pattern task, there is also a task sheet, if you are not able to print it just write it into your jotter.t-n-192-repeating-pattern-activity-sheets-shapes–_ver_1 Pattern maths aid

STEM

Watch the attached video clip about how rainbows are formed…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCPPLhPTAIk&t=6s

If you can, copy the experiment at home with an adult. What do you see?!

You could also try building your own rainbow using Lego, here are some ideas to help you…Building Brick Flashcards if you don’t have any Lego you could try using play dough or any other colourful items around the house.

Don’t forget to send any pictures of your work to the school if you can!

Writing

Think back to the STEM rainbow video, or watch it back again, can you draw and label a detailed picture that shows what happened in the experiment using the mirror and glass of water? What else did you need? Under your labeled diagram write a few short sentences to explain what happened in your own words.
