The children in Mrs Hare’s class have set themselves a verb challenge – they have to add as many verbs as they can to describe what the Olympic athletes are doing as they compete. Please add some verbs to help us. So far we have sliding and balancing for figure skating (Jaidon) and pushing and pulling for cross-country skiing (Reece).
Yesterday we did some activities on internet safety in Mrs Hare’s class. Lee and Kim two cartoon characters showed us how to stay safe online. Here are our top tips:
Andrew – ‘Don’t tell someone where you live or your phone number’
Ella – ‘ They (people on line) and not friends, they are strangers’
Jaidon – ‘Be polite. Don’t say nasty stuff’
Robbie – If you feel uh oh tell your mum or dad’
The children in Mrs Hare’s class have started to learn about their rights and responsibilities as responsible citizens. This week we have been exploring ‘I have the right to be fed an adequate amount of food and the responsibility not to waste food’. We are talking about this right and responsibility at snack time in the Language Centre
The children in the Language Centre celebrated Chinese New Year this week. They learnt the story of the animals crossing the river and that this year’s animal is the horse. We think Chinese children are very lucky to find red envelopes with money inside as a gift. Writing in Chinese was tricky and making patterns on the horses head was too but we’re sure you’ll agree they made a good effort. A Chinese feast rounded off our week of celebrations and we even tried eating with chopsticks.
Here is the Table Mountain game for everyone to play at home to learn your times tables in a fun game 🙂
