School trip to Cran Gevrier

Last weekend, Mrs Millar, Mrs Craig and Miss Gall went for a whistlestop trip to Cran Gevrier, near Annecy in France as part of a visit organised by the Bathgate/Cran Gevrier Twinning Committee, to develop twinning relationships between Bathgate Cluster feeder schools and schools in Cran Gevrier.

We were delighted by the response from our teaching colleagues in Cran Geverier, who came to meet us to talk about how to support our pupils’ learning.  After eating a delicious lunch rhey spent the afternoon with  us, showing us some of the beautiful sights in and around Cran Gevrier and Annecy.  We were then treated to another delicious, traditional meal of “Croziflette” and “jambon cru”, courtesy of the chairperson of the Twinning Committee.  It was a really wonderful weekend and we are all looking forward to sharing our memories with our children at Murrayfield and helping them to learn more about our French neighbours.

On Tuesday all Primary 3 pupils and all Primary 5 pupils have the opportunity to attend the Edinburgh International book festival in Charlotte Square Edinburgh. This event is held every year in Edinburgh and has a variety of reading workshops and activities for pupils to enjoy as part of the schools programme.

Can parents and carers please ensure that all forms and EE2’s have been returned to school by Monday morning and if your child has medication this has been handed in to school with the correct forms for this year completed. Children will not be able to attend if they do not have the required medication or if the correct forms have not been completed.

Blackburn Gala Day – Saturday 9th June

Come along and join the fun on Saturday.

All pupils and parents are welcome to come along and join Murrayfield parent council members and staff as they walk around the village as part of the procession, which takes place straight after the crowning ceremony.  Look out for our Super Mario themed school float which is currently under construction…we are hoping to scoop 1st prize again!  As usual there will be spaces available for nursery children and their parents (these spaces will be given on a first come basis)

The school have chosen to go with the theme Super Mario (easy costume idea – dungarees/jeans, brightly coloured t-shirt, pretend moustache) but you are welcome to come along as another cartoon character or approprate gaming character.

We are looking forward to seeing you on Saturday.

Den Building in the sun

The Den Building groups have so far been challenged to work outdoors in snow, hail, fog and finally, today we were gifted with sunshine!

The pupils from the Stewart House worked together to have fun and develop skills in team work, communication, problem solving and decision making.  They made use of pallets, tarpaulins, camouflage nets, trees branches and canes to build reading dens.

Outdoor learning experiences motivate our children and young people to become successful learners and to develop as healthy, confident, enterprising and responsible citizens.

Euroquiz postponed

Unfortunately the West Lothian heats of this year’s EUROQUIZ which were due to take place tomorrow have had to be postponed due to the snow.  Hopefully a new date will be set soon and our Euro-tastic team will be able to put all their hard work to use.  Thank you all for all your hard work and commitment so far Lewis, Mia, Zac, Robbie, Emma and Eryn!  It has been a pleasure to work with you all – and fun too!

Difficulty accessing files from our blog

Thanks to everyone who let us know that they have been having difficulty accessing files from our blog today.

We think that the problem could be due to Word documents being uploaded.  I’ve asked staff to upload files in PDF format going forward.  In the meantime, please remember that if you do not have Word downloaded on your system at home, your child will be able to download the whole of Microsoft Office for FREE  on up to 5 devices – yes FREE – through Glow.  Not often you can say that nowadays!  So, if you have put off paying a huge amount to buy Office, just look for the icon when you first log in to Glow, on your launch pad and set about downloading it.

If neither of these solve your downloading problems, please let us know.  Thanks to Laura Compton for helping out!
