Greetings from P5/4!

Hello from everyone in Primary 5/4! This week we have:

  • Learned how to get through a slalom of cones using our improving hockey skills!
  • Improved greatly on our skills in Bench Ball & we are now much more confident about the festival on Wednesday 16th March.
  • Using a picture and listing adjectives to help us write a story (please see the pictures below of all the words we came up with)
  • Started work on our Topic PowerPoint which we hope to share with the class next week!
  • Problem solving this week – we looked at the 5 steps to problem solving which are (1) Read & Think, (2) Choose A Strategy, (3) Experiment, (4) Consider & (5) Report & Record. This has been challenging but very worthwhile.

P5/4 News

This week we say goodbye to Mrs Caggiano after 6 weeks in our class. We have really enjoyed having Mrs Caggiano in class and loved doing art, writing, health and well-being and maths with her. We’ll miss you loads and loads and wish you all the best for the future! We hope you like the cards we made you!

This week has been another busy one and we have:

* Learned the rules of bench ball for the Primary 4’s upcoming tournament on Wednesday 16th March at the Community Centre

* Learned about the sugar content of some of our favourite foods in health and well-being

* Used pictures as a stimulus to plan our writing. One of our favourite websites we use is www.literacyshed.com – check it out!

* Masterclasses were held in school on Thursday 3rd March and the children across the school had a great day participating in a number of different activities – well done everyone.

* Finally, P5/4 are incredibly proud of Ellie Chapman & Dean Robertson for participating in the Burns competition which was held at St Kents on Tuesday 1st March. Although they didn’t get through, to stand in front of an audience and judges to perform a song (Ellie) and poem (Dean) is an amazing achievement and speaks volumes about the confidence the children at Murrayfield Primary School are continuing to develop. Well done!

Below you will find some photos from this week. Enjoy and see you again next week!

Miss Proudfoot ‘s RME lessons allowed the children to find out interesting facts about Islam. We hope to see her  again!

We have resumed our French learning this week, Mrs Miller will be teaching this every week.

We celebrated Neve’s success in the Burns competition, winning first place in the musical instrument category for primary stage 4/5, well done Neve! Photo of her fantastic winners’ cup is attached .

Our Viking assembly will be on 11/3/16, everyone is welcome to come and share our learning. We also have a Benchball  festival  on 16/3/16,  1-3pm at the Community Centre.
