News from P5/4

Hello again from everyone here in P5/4. It has been another very busy week here in class! This week we have:

* We had a HUGE spelling test!

* We made symmetrical butterflies as well as faces, cats, castles, rockets, hot air balloons, stars and we also made a large symmetrical face on the Smart Board!

* Some of us ran and some of us walked/jogged a full mile around the playground! Well done to everyone – a great effort!

* We did some Zumba in the class because it was raining outside.

* We learned more about Knot Gardens and the competition to design a new one for Blackburn House.

*We discussed our favourite breakfast cereals for a piece of written work we will be doing next week.

* Tried to answer 60 maths questions in 5 minutes – it was tough!

Please take a look below at our new class photograph!!

See you all again next week!

* Discussed our ideas for our class charter

* Made some fun masks in art

*Had a go at some tricky spelling

Keep an eye on our blog each week for all the latest information and photos from Primary 5/4! Until then, have a lovely weekend. 😉

This week in P5/4…

Welcome to our latest blog entry. This week we have:

* Continued work on proper and common nouns.

* Been practicing our problem solving skills by organising data into a table to help us work out the correct answers.

* Competed in sports afternoon on Tuesday and had a great time all working together in our teams! Congratulations to the winners of the individual class race, boy’s race and girl’s race (details below). Everyone in class did so well and should be proud of their efforts!

Class Race:

1st – Ellie Chapman   2nd – Brennan Manclark       3rd – Weston Watt

Girl’s Race:

1st – Neve Murphy   2nd – Aimee Clifton     3rd – Lisa Taylor

Boy’s Race:

1st – Brennan Manclark     2nd – Weston Watt    3rd – Logan Cargill

Finally this week, we started our Healthy Tuck Shop on Monday and the children worked incredibly hard to get the tasty products out to their customers. The class have managed to sell over £125 worth of goods and deserve a huge amount of credit for their hard work. The final profit will be posted once we have worked it out! I think we may see a few of our children appearing on “The Apprentice” in the future with business skills like these! Well done everyone!

One week to go! Have a great weekend everybody.

Greetings from P5/4!

Hello again from P5/4. We have been really busy again this week and we are looking forward to the Blackburn Gala Day this weekend – hopefully the weather will be kind to us! In class we have:

* Made posters for our Healthy Tuck Shop Enterprise Topic which will start from next Monday 15th June and run for 1 week. All proceeds will go towards school funds.

* Collected and analysed data from around the school about the sorts of fruit and snacks the boys and girls would consider buying from our Healthy Tuck Shop.

* Written our own comparative adjective poems. An example being:

Hot is the coffee

Hotter is the oven

Hottest is the sun

Finally, we would like to share some more P5/4 successes with you this week. First of all Leonard Ndjoba came a superb 2nd in Blackburn’s Got Talent held last Friday evening and on Tuesday of this week, Ellie Chapman was part of the Murrayfield team that also finished a brilliant 2nd and only 1 and a half points from winning! Well done to both Lenny and Ellie – we are very proud of you!

Thanks for checking out our blog and see you all again next week.

P5/4 news

Hello everyone and welcome to our latest blog entry. Another busy week whizzes by and we are only 4 weeks away from our summer holidays! This week:

* Apples & Bananas spelling groups have been learning about the suffixes -ible and -able in their spelling

* Cherries & Dates spelling groups have been learning about compound words in their spelling

* We have all worked hard on our comprehension skills by reading an unfamiliar passage and then answering questions about it to test our knowledge and recall of information.

* On Wednesday we attended a rugby festival (together with Mrs McGlynn’s Primary 5 class) organised by the active schools in West Lothian. We had a great time and represented our school extremely well. We worked well in our teams and we can be extremely proud of our efforts. Please enjoy the photos below!

Thanks for taking the time to check out our blog and see you all again next week with more news!
