P5/4 news!

Another week whizzes by! This week we have:

* Had our final ocarina lesson from Mrs England and performed a selection of tunes with P4 to Mr Benyon’s P3 class & Mrs Sneddon’s P5 class! We’ll keep practicing on our ocarina’s and prepare some Christmas tunes!!

* Within our topic on Britain we started looking at the capital cities and found some facts about each city which we will present in class soon.

* We had a mild, spicy & hot challenge to do in maths this week and we all did really well. Our learning over the last few weeks has really helped us to become successful learners.

* In spelling, the apples looked at verbs ending in -s, -ed & -ing and the Bananas and Cherries worked on words ending in -le. We think we’ve got the hang of this now!

* We had to solve a really tricky problem during problem solving where we had to work out an answer which was over 200,000!! We managed this together and are rightly proud of our achievement!

See you all next week.

Welcome back from P5/4

A warm welcome back to everyone this week after the October break! This week we have:

* Been practicing our Ocarina in preparation of a performance for the Primary 5 & Primary 3G classes!

* Learned how to play corner football during P.E. with Mr Richards

* Gained a better understanding of the GIRFEC (Getting It Rich For Every Child) Well-Being Wheel and came up with our own ideas as to why we feel Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurtured, Active, Respected, Responsible and Included at our school.

* Started on our new topic of Britain and shared what we know about it already.

* Had some “spooky” fun at the Halloween discos on Thursday night!

* Made Halloween “Bags of Bones” and you can see our photos below!

Until next week – have a great weekend!

Fantastic trip to Tesco !

Great topic learning  in Primary 4 , our trip to Tesco on 6/10/15 was a great success. The children got the opportunity to have new tasting experiences and find out where their food comes from and how it’s processed in the shop. All of the children managed to taste something they had never tasted before, and hold / touch food such as tiger prawn and squid! Being inside the store fridge and freezer was very cold. We topped our own roll in the bakery and Tesco kindly delivered the freshly baked rolls to the school in the afternoon, they smelled delicious!  029 010 048 20151006_112404 20151006_115058 20151006_113612026

This week in P5/4

A shorter week this week due to the holiday but no less busy!

This week we took part in “walking week” which saw us venture out from the school and take a closer look at our community. We also enjoyed a series of different Masterclasses around the school based around the theme of endangered animals and biodiversity. Please enjoy some of our photos from our walk and the Panda Masterclass.

Primary 4 this week 14-18 September

Busy week this week in Primary 4!
We started our ocarina lessons last week and practised hard, our version of twinkle twinkle little star is improving!
In art , we explored buildings and painted doors and buildings. We finished our topic of Blackburn House by drawing our own version of Blackburn House. Our new topic is healthy eating and we had a good discussion on what is healthy food and why we should eat healthy. During our R.M.E lesson we created a menu with kosher food for a Jewish guest.
In class we have started Dojo points, the children can earn these by working hard, keeping on task and good teamwork. The children chose the design of their individual avatars for our class Dojo.

And most importantly , we won the whole school challenge and earned an extra playtime!
