Another week in P2/1

This week in P2/1 we have been leaning how to add two different amounts together. We learned that when you are adding you have to count the cubes or counters until you have counted them all. That will give you the answer. We were learning how to use ten-frames to help us with our adding.

We learned about the sound ‘o’.  To make our sound  we have to make our mouth into a large circle shape.

These things begin with the sound ‘o’ – orange, octopus, on, ox and octagon.  Can you help us find other things that begin with the ‘o’  sound?

We were learning about wild animals and animals are pets.  A pet might live in our houses and can be friendly.  Wild animals don’t stay in our houses and you wouldn’t want to pet one! We learned the names of some of the animals that live in Scotland.  We spoke about badgers, deer, otters, robins, rabbits, snakes and a few others. Next week we will be learning about why it is important to look after our community and the effect that litter can have on our wildlife.

We also took part in a Judo taster session.  We learned some new moves and had great fun. Destination Judo sessions are held in the Bathgate Sports centre (Xcite) on a Thursday night – we will be bringing home a leaflet to explain more!

We also learned how we can keep ourselves safe when out and about at bonfire/firework displays.  We listened to the the story of Welephant and his friend on Bonfire night.  Here is the webpage for the story if you want to share it with me. http://www.welephant.co.uk/bonfirestory000.htm

Shhhh….don’t tell but we have already started to learn our songs for our nativity.

Have a good weekend and stay safe on Bonfire Night!

27.10.17 – This week in Primary 2

We have had a short but busy week. Lots of boys and girls have been collecting more ticks for their listening charts and more tokens have been given out.

Deron says we were excited to get our new reading books and will be using our flashcards to help us learn the words. Lilly M says we are excellent readers!

Lily McD liked when we were writing about a journey we have made.

Adam liked it when we were doing number work. We had to remember what the number looked like using resources, in words and also what it looked like in numbers. It was great fun.

Some of us went to the Halloween Party and enjoyed getting dressed up and playing the party games.

We look forward to next weeks fun.

What’s been happening in P2/1?

This week, as well as doing lots of numeracy and literacy work, we went to the library.  We listened to a story.  It was called ‘The Huge Bag of Worries’.  We got to look at the different books in the library that were for our age group.

After the library we went on an autumn walk and looked at the different colours we could see.  We collected little bits of leaves to make an autumn palette.

We wrote stories about autumn and compared the colours of autumn to the things we could see growing in the school garden.  Ask us about what we saw and what their colours were.

Here are some of the other things we have enjoyed this week:

Jay – I loved going to the library and reading the books.

Kayleigh – I liked collecting the autumn leaves and making colours of autumn.

Rhys – I liked Golden Time this week and playing with the cars.

Kerryn – I liked going to the hall at parents’ night and seeing all the different things.

Cooper- I liked playing in the playground with my friends.

Blake – I have liked playing outside.

David – I liked visiting the library with my class.

Lucy – I like doing all of my work.

13.10.17 -This week in Primary 2…

We have also been….

  • We have been exploring a variety of resources to make owl pictures and enjoyed using tissue paper to make them look fluffy and plump
  • We made houses with the correct number of windows to match the number on the door
  • Counting to 100 and back again!!
  • Everyone did an EXCELLENT job with handwriting this week and Mrs Bowman was very happy!
  • We have been using cubes and numicon to make tens and units in numbers

We hope everyone has a good holiday and stays safe.

P7 Pupil Consultation, Friday 6th October 2017, West Lothian Civic Centre

We were proud to have two of our Primary 7 House Captains, Lara Findlay and Aarin Higgins represent us at the P7 Pupil Consultation on Friday 6th October 2017 at  West Lothian’s Civic Centre.  There, they met with other P7 pupils from selected Primary Schools across the Authority to give their views on the quality of the education they receive.  Following the Consultation, they were given a quick tour of the Council Chambers.  What a terrific experience!
