Sports Day Results

Not put off by less than fantastic weather, Murrayfield Primary School Sports Day 2016 went ahead. Pupils from each class took part in a wide range of athletic challenges to earn points for their house, Bruce, Douglas, Stewart or Wallace.

After a titanic struggle the results are as follows:

1st Bruce – 1740 points

2nd Douglas – 1710 points

3rd Wallace – 1660 points

4th Stewart – 1640 points

Well done to everyone who took part and a big congratulations to everyone in Bruce for their winning score.

And finally a massive thanks to all the parents and carers who turned up on the day to support the event.

What have we been learning this week?

In gym we have been doing new dances in groups of 4 – Sara

We watched the video in slow motion of a frog catching a fly – Callan

Primary 2B Newsflash

This week in primary 2B we have been learning about:

Money – “I can identify different coins and their colour up to £2″- Aaron

Minibeasts – ” For our topic this week we have been learning about the life cycle of a lady bird, ant and butterfly.” – Jordan

Literacy – “We have been practicing using word document on the laptop to type out our keywords” – Zoe

Reading – “Our group are able to make up questions relating to the answers we have in our booklets”- Summer S

Last week our chicks went home and it is very quiet in the classroom now. We also got a certificate for looking after the chicks.

What have we been learning?

Alex – we have been learning parts of the insect – head, thorax and abdomen

Callan J – I can label parts of an insect

Jack – we were labelling pictures of ants, flies and bees

Payton – we were reading our new books

Alex – we were putting the sentences from our book in the right order.

Brogan – we were counting on and back in tens

Jack – we were learning greater than/less than symbols

Megan – we were making up our own dance in PE

Sara – we were working in pairs for dance

Callen S – we were doing our CEM tests on Monday

Adam and Sean were today’s Skillionaires – well done!

Primary 2A

This week we have been learning……

In RME we were learning through stories about an ant, kittens and a camel…………Alex & Jack

We were learning about mini beasts – Adam

We were looking at a dead wasp close up with a magnifying glass – Dionne

The wasp has 4 wings – Freya

The wasp has 6 legs – Alex

The wasp has stripes and spots and the bee just has stripes – Warren

We were looking at a slater (alive!) with a magnifying glass – Callen

We did then release the slater back outside – Jack

The slater had lots of legs – Sean

It had 2 antennae – Lilianna

The slater was small and grey – Brogan

We have been using scales to measure weight – Mrs McLay

We measured the weight of a teddy against a wooden sphere to see which was heaviest – Freya

We have been reading fact books this week – Sara

We have been busy in our first week back after the holidays.
