The superheroes week in P2S

Another busy week in P2S!

Primary 2S have been thoroughly enjoying practising their handwriting and take pride in their work! We practised writing “i” this week and will continue with this letter next week.

This weeks big talk homework of “If I was a superhero…” really assisted the children with their writing and the classroom chat.Β  P2S were very enthuasitic about what kind of superhero they would be! Thank you to parents/carers at home for supporting us with the big talk homework every week! πŸ™‚

P2S have also been learning to tell the time, specifically we revisted o’clock which they will have looked at in Primary 1. This coming week we will look at half past and if the superheroes are up for the challenge even quarter past!

We have finished off our mini topic about Healthy eating and the children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the different food groups but most of all they enjoyed learning about how much sugar is in drinks.Β  They learned about muscles and keeping fit as well! Ask your child what the biggest muscle in their body is, although be warned this may be followed by fits of giggles as it did in class πŸ™‚

Well done to Courtney and Quinn for their Head teachers’ awards, which they won for creating their own healthy plate! πŸ™‚

Happy Holidays from the Nursery!

Last week was a busy week for the children as they performed their Nativity on Tuesday. I am sure you will agree with the Nursery team in saying that the children put on a great performance and made us all very proud!

Since last Wednesday, the children have been busy having fun in the lead up to Christmas with lot’s of Christmas related activities such as wrapping presents, writing Christmas cards etc. They have all especially loved having Eddie the Elf who has come to visit us from the North Pole. He has been a little mischievous and made lot’s of mess in the nursery to send a message to the children that we keep our nursery tidy.

Both children and staff are looking forward to the Christmas parties! We hope to see you all there! Just a reminder that doors open at 2.35pm on Thursday for Parents/Carers at the pm party and 10.55am for the am party, to come along and meet our special guest!

On behalf of the whole Nursery team, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! πŸ™‚

This week in Nursery

We were very lucky to have new toys and resources delivered in to the nursery this week.Β  The new blocks and water tray has significantly enhanced children’s cooperative skills.Β  The children have played so well together and have become more responsible and respecting of their toys.

We also started our 2 week focus topic of Winter.Β  Children have been able to describe the change of weather and some were even able to talk about hibernation.

The week ahead is going to be a busy but yet another fun filled week for the children.Β  We have Moustale puppets performing on Tuesday, which we are all looking forward to!

Children have been busy creating crafts for the Christmas Fair, which is on Wednesday 2nd December from 6-8pm, please try to attend as each child has created a personalised calendar.

Up up and away!

Last week the focus was chosen by the nursery boys and girls.Β  The majority of children wanted to learn about helicopters and aeroplanes, so we decided to focus on Air transport.Β  Children really enjoyed making their own hot air balloons, pretending to be aeroplanes and learning all about the different purposes of helicopters.

The christmas treat has been confirmed as a UV puppet show and permission forms have been distributed.Β  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to a member of the Nursery team!

Looking forward to all the fun this week brings! Children have already had so much fun today with all the new toys that have been delivered in to the nursery (Pictures to follow this week!) :).

Look at all the fun we have had in Nursery so far!

The children have had so much fun in our first term at Nursery.Β  They have had lot’s of visitors come in such as;Β  the β€˜Traditional Tunes for Tiny People’ music Workshop,Β  NHS dental nurses to teach them how to brush their teeth, a farmer and a policeman; to coincide with our topics.Β  We have also been busy re-developing our Nursery back garden, creating a water and music wall.Β  The following pictures are of the children having lots of fun at nursery in their first term.Β  IMG_0238 IMG_0250IMG_0220 IMG_0641 IMG_0696 IMG_0727 IMG_0755 IMG_0658 IMG_0678 IMG_0955 IMG_0808 IMG_0992 IMG_0847 IMG_0988

I hope to update the blog on a weekly basis so you can see all the learning and fun your child has at nursery! πŸ™‚ Keep checking for these updates.
