P3 News

It has been a busy but terrific week in Primary 3.

We enjoyed our Travelling by Tuba workshops this week with Chris and Stewart. We learned to play lots of instruments, keeping in time with each other and performing together for the whole school. It was quite tricky but we all had fun!

As the Royal wedding is coming up this weekend, we did some persuasive writing. We wrote letters to the Royal family, persuading them to invite is to the wedding. In class we have also designed some of our own lovely Royal Wedding cakes!

We loved our Danceathon this morning and enjoyed showing each other our best dance moves!

Have a lovely long weekend! Remember to keep safe in the sun!

P3 National Children’s Day Challenge

P3 National Children’s Day Challenge

A few weeks ago our class assembly was all about National Children’s day UK which is coming up this weekend, Sunday 13th May.

This afternoon we have all visited classes for a survey about what makes us happy and keeps us safe. We set challenges for people to do some happy and safe tasks this weekend and share them with us by commenting or leaving photos on this post. We hope you have a lovely weekend!

From Primary 3!

Our Week in P3

We have had a smashing week in P3!

It has been super busy but we have achieved lots!

Thank you very much to all the parents who came along to our assembly this morning! We have worked hard learning our words and songs and enjoyed sharing our learning with you all.

In maths we have been investigating weight, predicting how heavy or light classroom objects are and using balance bucket weights to test our predictions.

We have started our new topic ‘My Body’ and have enjoyed naming organs and learning interesting facts. Next week we will continue to look at keeping our bodies safe and healthy.

We hope you all have a lovely, sunny weekend!

A busy week in P3

We enjoyed our trip to the National Museum of Scotland this week. We took part in an Ancient Egypt trail around the museum, completing challenges all about our Egypt topic. We saw a sarcophagus, a mummy and we found the Ancient Egyptian God Sekhmet.

We have been practising some new songs for our class assembly next Friday (27th April) and we are looking forward to sharing our work with you all.

We have continued writing letters this week. Yesterday we wrote thank you letters to the people at the museum who helped with our trip.

In maths we have worked on our problem solving skills, reading questions carefully to find the answers to number problems.

In PE we worked on lots of exercises to help keep us fit. We are enjoying taking part in ‘bodycoach’ work outs each week.

We hope you have a marvellous weekend in the sun!

Our Week in Primary 3

We have had a brilliant and busy week in class.

We have started letter writing this term by writing letters to the main character in our new class novel ‘The Creakers’.

We all have new reading books that we will practise at home and in our groups in class.

In numeracy we have practised times tables by doing different activities and playing games. We can show the 2 times table using arrays.

We have written some spring time poems and done some spring time art. We made dandelion pictures using finger painting and sunflower paintings using different art techniques.

In PE we did some work outs with the Body Coach. These help to keep us fit and are good fun too!

We have started practising for our P3 assembly that will be on Friday 27th April.

Have a jolly weekend,

Primary 3 and Miss Calder

A busy week in P3

We have had a smashing week in Primary 3.

On Monday we were busy keeping fit with the body coach. We tried our best to take part in all exercises and did some relaxing yoga afterwards.

We have done some RME, learning all about the Easter Story and sequencing important Easter events.

We have written imaginative stories all about a mysterious Easter Bunny and in maths we have practised our times tables and designed symmetrical easter eggs too!

We have enjoyed celebrating books today and taken lots of pictures of our book character costumes. We are spending the rest of today drawing our world book day selfies and reading some brand new books for our classroom Reading Den.

Have a great weekend,

Primary 3 and Miss Calder

Our Week In P3

It has been a busy week in class this week.

We have worked hard with Primary 3/2 to prepare and practise our Ancient Egypt assembly. We feel proud of ourselves for working hard and we hope everyone enjoyed it! Thank you to everybody who came along to watch us.

Our Egypt topic isn’t over quite yet as we are still working on rescheduling our museum trip and we will share details soon.

We loved watching the upper school’s dress rehearsal on Wednesday afternoon. Well done to everyone who made the Jungle Book amazing.

We have been writing imaginative stories about characters in Egypt. We are working on including VCOP in our work.

We have been focussing on early times tables by playing lots of active games. These can be practised at home too by using sumdog and education city.

We spoke about Fairtrade Fortnight and identified foods which are fairtrade and why these are important.

We hope you have a great weekend!

Primary 3 – World Book Day

As we were going to be celebrating World Book Day today in class, here are some activities you could still do at home to be shared back in school:

Write a review of your favourite story – describe your favourite part/ character and explain why you like this.

Draw your favourite book character, use interesting vocabulary to write down words to describe this character around the page.

Write your own snow adventure story to be shared in class.

Take part in shared reading – read a story with mums/dads/brothers/sisters/grannies/grandads – anyone at home!

Make a world book day snow scultpure – be creative and try to make your favourite book character from snow 🙂

I look forward to seeing photos & hearing all about your snowy adventures.

Miss Calder 🙂

Primary 3 Snow Tasks – update

I hope you’ve had  a fun day Primary 3! Remember to keep safe and warm! I look forward to seeing pictures and hearing all about your adventures back in school.

I have attached the same tasks as this morning, only in a new type of file – just in case anyone tried to access these today and couldn’t. Hopefully everyone has managed.

As an extra, Primary 3 and Primary 3/2 pupils could also be practising our song for our assembly next week! We’ll all have to work twice as hard when we get back to school after not being able to work together for two days.

Stay safe,

Miss Calder
