On Monday 13th May Matthew Fitt a Scottish author will be visiting Murrayfield to present a workshop to all of the children in P4-7 about writing in Scots language. We would like to invite parents and carers along to the event at 9.15am in the hall where you can watch the workshop and then stay afterwards to join the children in classes to complete a follow up activity. The children have been writing persuasive letters to take home which will go home on Wednesday next week.
Using funding from the Scottish Book Trust we have been able to invite Scottish illustrator Kate Leiper to school on Wednesday 8th May at 9.30am. Kate will present an hour workshop with the children from P1-3 about her books and will be giving them tips on how to draw and illustrate their own stories.
We would like to invite parents and carers to the event to see her presentation with the children. Please come to the school main entrance for 9.30am. Look out for invitations from your child this week.
The school campers are enjoying lots of adventures. Regular updates are being posted on the school Twitter account.

On Friday 8th March we are inviting everyone to dress up or dress down. Come to school dressed up as a book character or wear non uniform to school on Friday 8th March to finish our world book day celebrations. No donation is required.
Next Thursday the children will be participating in a range of activities related to books and reading to celebrate World Book Day. They will also be asked to turn a lollipop into a book character, learning tips on how to be a good reader and writer and listening to stories. The Junior Librarians will be sharing stories in the playground at lunchtime. The theme for this years World Book Day is “share a story”.
Every child will receive a £1 book token which can be used towards the purchase of a book or can be used to buy one of the special world book day books. Book tokens can be used from Thursday 28th February. World book day books are sold in book shops and supermarkets.
Our Junior Librarians asked every child and adult in the school to write or draw the title of a book that they love to read on a love heart.
They created this wall display to show how much we love books at Murrayfield.
