Primary 2A

We have been practising for our Fairtrade Assembly and we did a great job today – Jack

Thank you to all of you who managed to come along to see it.

We were busy today and went to the primary 1 80’s disco – Brogan.

We started measuring this week with cubes – Warren

For homework we had to think of the missing word using our reading book – Alex.

The Skillionaires this week for estimating length were Alex and Megan – well done girls!

The Head Teacher Award this week went to Brogan for excellence in reading and writing. Well done Brogan – keep up the hard work.

We wore our pjs for our Fairtrade Assembly. Sit down for breakfast - stand up for farmers.

After our Fairtrade Assembly please try to change your breakfast to Fairtrade over the next fortnight. P1 – P3 please collect the Fairtrade lables over the next 2 weeks and bring them to school to fill in the letters for Fairtrade.

What have we been learning this week?

Odd and even numbers – Brogan

All the even numbers end in 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 – Brogan

All the odd numbers end in 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 – Sean

We have been learning all about toys – Jack

We have been learning about toys from the past too – Sean

Some toys are made of metal and some of plastic – Jack

Old teddies had glass eyes – Alex

New teddies have plastic eyes – Eva

We looked at old toys with Maureen (they were about 60 years old)

We liked various toys:

the yo-yo – Aleisha, the spinning top – Bailey, an old teddy bear – Warren , an old baby doll – Adam, weeble wobble clown – Freya

We have been learning names of toys in French – Sara

Yo- yo is the same le yo-yo.

Primary 2A

A big thank you to those of you who managed to come along to see our Assembly on The Owl Who was Afraid of the Dark last week.

Following on from this fabulous Assembly, we are now practising for the Nativity with the Primary 1s. This will be part of the Christmas Show this year and you can buy your tickets now.

We are busy learning the songs and actions and some of us are learning our words to be the Narrators.

In literacy we wrote a poem about an owl this week. In reading we were learning about the importance of italics and bold fonts. We worked in groups to identify these in a piece of text.

In maths we were reading tally marks then drawing a bar graph.

In science we were learning about star constellations with Mrs Millar.

We learned the importance of dressing in bright colours to keep us safe as part of road safety week.

Primary 2

In maths we did a survey about pets then we made a bar graph and a pictograph. We used tally marks to do the survey.  – Aleisha, Freya, Alex.

We have been putting numbers in order to 20 – Aleisha

We have been matching names to numbers to 20 – Warren

We have been finding facts about owls – Jana

We wrote them on our fact sheet – Jack

We made a fan with Mrs Turnbull to learn our f sound – Callan

We have been learning sh and ch sounds – Adam

We have been learning oa/ai sounds – Alex and Eva

We have been starting to learn about technology with Mrs Millar

This weeks Skillionaires are Callen Singleton and Payton Owens

Callan Johnston won the Spotlight this week for super subtraction!

This week Skillionaire focus was Analyse.

The Skillionaires this week are Jack Kerr for breaking down numbers using ten frames and Aleisha Quinn for interpreting a bar graph.

Sara – we were painting firework pictures.

Dionne – we are learning about bar graphs in maths.

Jack – we had special visitors this week. They were firemen!
