**Rescheduled** Dounans Residential Parents Information Meeting

There will be a parent information session on Wednesday 7th March at 3.40pm.  This is an opportunity to hear a little more about this year’s residential activity week and to discuss any questions, queries or concerns you may have.  We hope you can make it along, however don’t worry if you can’t as you can contact the school directly to discuss any important issues.

Thank you to everyone who has returned their paperwork…not long now before you can head off for a fun packed week in Aberfoyle.

Relevant information has been passed onto the teachers and staff attending this year’s residential as well as Dounans to ensure that there is a shared awareness of any medical/ dietary requirements.

Remember all bedding is provided so there is no need to bring along sleeping bags, blankets etc…however a wee teddy bear might not go a miss!

Dounans have been in contact and have created an activity programme for the week so we have an idea of what types of activities will be available and can share this with you on 7th March.

**Parents/Carers….not long now until 5 days/4 nights of peace and quiet (or reduced noise levels if you still have a child(ren) at home!)

P6 & P7 Dounans Camp Parent Meeting

Dear Parents/ Carers,

The meeting that was going to take place today after school will be rescheduled for a later date.  Thank you to everyone who has returned all the relevant paperwork which will ensure Dounans have all the necessary information required in a timely manner.

There are still some EE2/ Code of Conduct forms that need to be returned in order for me to pass on relevant medical/ dietary information.  Dounans cannot guarantee that they can accommodate these requirements if they do not receive the information at least 2 weeks prior to attending camp. I have already passed on all information I have received, please ensure all forms are returned to school as soon as possible.  Please don’t hesitate to contact the school if you have any queries or concerns regarding this.  Although school is closed today, I have access to the school email and will check it on a regular basis, should anyone need to contact me regarding school camp:

Final preparations are taking place and Dounans have created a proposed activity programme for our residential trip. Staff will organise evening activities for Monday – Thursday, such as games/ quiz night etc. There will be a disco on Thursday evening, so for this event the children are allowed to bring a special outfit to wear. (We will try to ensure they don’t wear this while hiking up a hill and that they try to keep it clean for Thursday!)

I’ll update you with a new date for this meeting as soon as possible.

Thank you

Mrs Waugh

School Closure: Some additional activity ideas to keep you busy

Build a Snowman

Try and build the biggest snowman you can or be creative and build a different type of snow model, for example a snow animal, the Gruffalo or maybe even an igloo! Take a photograph of your creation and bring it in when we come back for us all to see.

Favourite Character Puppet

Choose your favourite story character and make a puppet. This could be made with a paper bag, folded paper even an old odd sock. Bring it in when we come back and show your friends.

World Book Day (WBD)

WBD is on 1st March and there are some great online resources available, visit the link for fun ideas for all the family:

Create Snow Art.

Bring some colour into the outdoor fun. Here’s an idea – Try filling an empty spray bottle or liquid dishwasher bottles with food colouring and water, then unleash your inner winter wonderland artist! You can design rainbows, flowers or self-portraits or even add colour to your snowmen! If you give it a try, remember to try and take some photographs to share with your class when we are back in school.

Build a Den

Create a den indoors using sheets, blankets, cushions and pillows. is the perfect way to take them by surprise! Turn out the lights, wear PJs, bring out the sleeping bags/ duvets and sit around telling/ reading your favourite stories. Again, you can take a photograph and share it when back at school.

Scavenger Hunt

Get out and about to explore your garden/ local area – What interesting signs of Winter (or even Spring if you look really carefully!) can you find?

Enjoy spending time with your family and friends. Have fun and be safe in the snow!  Right I’m off to mix up some coloured water!!
