Over the last few few weeks the pupils have been taking part in workshops about Music, Sound and Technology with a teacher called Miss Aslan. She has introduced us to Makey Makey’s, microphones and Zoom recorders. We have been challenged to explore and create sounds and music for a short animation. We have been having lots of fun using every day objects and our voices to create sounds. We have also become ‘experts ‘ in setting up and recording equipment. Sadly next week is our last input from Miss Aslan, however we can’t wait to watch and listen to our completed animation. We hope to be able to share our our efforts with parents and carers soon.
In Maths we have continued to focus on handling data and learning to use the vocabulary of probability. We used the smart board to play a fun game called ‘Take A Chance’, before explaining reasons for our choices. In mental maths we have continued to look at developing our multiplication strategies. On Wednesday, Mrs Waugh, Ms Macrae and Mrs Sneddon came into watch our Number Talks lesson. They enjoyed supporting us to share strategies used to find solutions to the questions.
In class, we have taken time to discuss the events which occurred earlier in the week in Manchester. We held a minutes silence to remember and support people who have died or have been injured. We had a great discussion on the event, sharing our feelings and worries about the world we live in.
In Gym this week we took advantage of the amazing sunshine to improve and develop skills in track and field events, such as relay racing, hammer throw, shot putt and hurdles. We are all looking forward to sports days on Friday 2nd June.
Have a great weekend. Hope the sun keeps shining! Remember to stay safe by wearing sun cream and a hat 🙂
