In Maths and Numeracy this week P1a began by sorting out a big pile of socks!
We soon noticed that each sock had a partner, so we matched them up and laid them out in a long line. Next, we counted them by counting in twos. We learnt that these numbers are called EVEN numbers.
Later, we used this game to sort shoes.
Very quickly, we discovered that the shoes didn’t always have a partner when we put them on the shelf. This helped us to understand what ODD numbers are.

What an excellent way to learn about odd and even P1a. Have you found any odd or even numbers or objects in your house? How did you know they were odd or even?
I am very impressed that you are counting in twos. Can you count in twos forwards and backwards to/from 20?
After reading this I asked Emily to count up to 20 in 2s. I was amazed how quickly she recited this with no items to assist her, there were also no mistakes in this.
Tonight I will see if she can count backwards from 20 in 2s
