The nursery are learning “Wee Willie Winkie” as part of our Burns Celebrations.

Verse 1
Wee Willie Winkie rins thro the toon
upstairs and doonstairs in his nicht goon,
tirlin at the windae, cryin at the lock,
“Are aw the bairnies in their beds? It’s past eight o’clock.”
Verse 2
Hey Willie Winkie, are ye comin ben?
The cat’s singin grey thrums to the sleepin hen.
The dug’s speldert on the flair an disnae gie a cheep,
but here’s a waukrife laddie that winna fa asleep.

Onythin but sleep, ye rogue, glowrin like the moon,
rattlin in an airn jug wi an airn spoon,
rumblin, tumblin roon aboot, crawin like a cock,
skirlin like A kenna what, waukerin sleepin folk.
Verse 4
Hey Willie Winkie, the wean’s in a creel,
wamblin aff a bodie’s knee like a verra eel,
ruggin at the cat’s lug an ravenin a her thrums.

Daisy loves Ali Bali Bee and Lola says Humpty Dumpy is her favourite.

Rosie came home today running through the house singing Wee Willie Winkie! She also loves the song about Speckled frogs and heads, shoulders, knees and toes.
Katelyn sings all the time at home, her favourites seem to be Incy Wincy Spider and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. She has however, came in from nursery over the last few days singing Wee Willie Winkie.
Archie loves Wee Willie Winkie, Jack and Jill is a favourite too but he thinks it’s silly putting vinegar on your head – that’s for fish and chips!!
I like “Humpty Dumpty” by Oliver Wilson.. I’m also winter ready.

Hannah has been listening to we willie winkie on the iPad singing along to the words and loving every minute of it 😀
Rory is enjoying learning Wee Willie Winkie and really enjoyed all the Xmas songs(still singing them well into January!) Jack and Jill is still one of his favourites.
Kristen has favourite books but I can’t think of many rhymes. She does like “rock-a-bye baby”.
Molly’s long time favourite song is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. We are still singing Jingle Bells daily and Wee Willie Winkie now too!
Finlay loves to sing and enjoyed singing “Away in a Manger” to us tonight (yes, it’s January)! He also loves “Shut up and Dance” just now! 😂

Eilidh likes to do twinkle twinkle little star, incy wincy spider and baa baa black sheep. She is funny when she practices wee willy winky using the different words such as toon!!
Quinn has been practising ‘wee willie winkie’ on her best scots voice! She also likes Baa Baa grey sheep 😁

It was funny hearing Rocco speaking in Scottish slang, his usual accent is very mild with mummy having an English accent.
Rocco enjoys singing all songs and loves singing with the radio on in the car.
