Another busy week in P4!

Here are our thoughts on what we’ve learned this week:

“We made poppies from clay and we are letting these dry.  Then we will paint them red.  We made them because it is going to be Remembrance Day at the weekend.  We did our 2 minutes silence today at school.”  Sophie

“We wrote war poems.  We learned how life was in WW1 in the trenches.  It sounded really sad.”  Pola

“We wrote our own poems and we used similes and onomatopoeia.  We made our own poppies from clay.”  Lucas

“We made our map of the world and put continent names on it.  One of the continents is Africa.”  Blair

“When everyone was with Mr Robertson, me and Nicole made a world map together.  We projected the image onto the paper and drew round the outline.  Then we painted the land and the sea.  We forgot to draw on Antarctica!”  Jessica

“Some of us learned the 2 times table, some of us learned the 4 times table and some of us learned the 8 times table.  I found it pretty easy!”  Piotr

“I did the four times table and it was really funny because we had to do a rap!”  Grace

Next week, the P3s will be selling Children in Need accessories such as headbands.  Please bring in money if you wish to buy any merchandise.  They will also be holding another bake sale (so many cakes today!!) on Monday at break time – all items will cost 20p.

Have a great weekend!

P4/3 Update

This week has been another busy week in P4/3.  We have started working on our assembly, which will be held on Friday 1st December at 9.15am.  We hope to see lots of family and friends there!  Our assembly will take place at the end of Book Week so as part of “Fairytale Friday” we’re going to tell the story of the Three Little Pigs!

Also in P4/3 this week, we had a visit from Mr Turnbull who talked to us about how to increase our confidence.  He told us the story of a man called Nick from Australia who was born without any arms or legs but managed to achieve amazing things through his positive attitude and self-confidence.

This week in writing we have started writing postcards to our bear friend Passepartout.  He sent us a postcard from France and asked us to return postcards to him telling him all about Broxburn!

Kirkhill crochet club

From Monday 20th November we will be hosting a crochet club for parents and carers at 1.30pm each week. If you enjoy crochet or would like to learn, please come along, we would love to see you there.

Also, if you have any wool that you no longer need and would like to donate, we would really appreciate it.

Primary 2 Update

We have a new pupil this week! Her name is Khloe, and she has settled in very well.

Here are some comments from the children about what we have done this week:

“We did stations for maths and we got to choose which station to go to. I played Sums in Space.” – Kiara

“We wrote instructions how to make a jam sandwich.” – Lily

“We did some science with Miss Thomson, and we coloured in the sun and all the planets. We made a space poster.” – Mollie

“We wrote instructions about a jam sandwich. Words you have to use when writing instructions are: first, after that, then, next, and finally.” – Amber

“We learned about the solar system. Solar is another word for a sun. An orbit is the way a planet goes around the sun.” – Sebastian

“In PE we did pirate yoga. One of the poses was dolphin pose. Outside in PE we did basketball.” – Natalie

“We are doing a money booklet and it had some hard sums, like adding a 50p and a 20p and the answer is 70p.” – Grace

Have a lovely weekend!

Children In Need

Image result for children in need

This Friday Primary 3 will be presenting their class assembly to ‘Kick Start’ our Children In Need week. Primary 3 have been busy organising a bake sale, buying Pudsey/Blush items, games and competitions for the forth coming week ( 13th November – 17th November). Primary 3 children will be coming round the classes  daily with these.

If your child wishes to wear a Children In Need T-shirt, Pudsey / Blush ears or boppers on Friday 10th and/or Friday 17th they are welcome to do so with no donations necessary.

The bake sale will take place after the Primary 3 assembly on 10th November during playtime where children can purchase a special snack with all proceeds going to Children In Need.

If you have any ‘Round’ pound coins (under in the sofa, in old coat pockets etc) these can be donated to this worth while cause.
