P3 Learning

Thank you  for sending the fantastic photos. The bunting looks great. I love the rainbow string and you are being so busy.

I am very impressed with your fractions work. Today I have put a link to a lesson for your group which is similar to what you are doing. I hope you find it fun and useful.

Let me know how you are finding Doohickey and the Robot? Great to see you reading it. I thought your group would like it as it was funny.

Take care

Mrs McDonnell

P3 Learning Activities

Good morning everyone,

I hope you are all well and have been enjoying our activities?

I have put links back onto the grid as well as PDF’s. Let me know if everyone is managing to access these ok?

I have put in a task to make a worry jar as we are all facing an uncertain time  just now which can make us worry more. You might be missing your friends and this can make you worry. Try writing or drawing the things that make you worry down and put them in a jar. You can talk about them with an adult if you can but even just writing or drawing them can help. Read the story book about worries on Oxford Owls and then try some relaxation

Primary 1 – Thursday 21st May

Hello everyone,

Below is today’s grid! It’s writing day and I’m very excitied to hear your stories once you finish them! If you dont have a dice at home, don’t worry just get an adult to choose some random numbers 1-6 and it’ll work the same 🙂

I’m excited to speak to some more of you for a catch up when I call today! It’s been lovely to hear for some of you already!

Hope you have a great day and remember the Kirkhill PS family quiz is on tonight at 6pm on Facebook if you would like to join in! It’s been great fun and more and more teams are entering as the weeks go on, maybe chat with some of you tonight if you want to join in the quiz! (Reynolds – I’m going to try my best tonight haha!)

Have a great day,

Miss Duncan 🙂

P3/2 – Thursday 21st May

Good morning P3/2,

I had a lovely day talking to some of you on the phone yesterday and if I didn’t manage to speak to you yesterday then I might be calling today.  It is really fantastic to hear what you have been doing.

Below is today’s grid.  We are going to carry on our inferring work with another picture sheet and we are continuing division in maths.  For our topic we are going to look at the timeline of when different toys first came out and I think you will be very surprised at how old some toys really are.  Finally it is another PE day and I have left the links for last week’s cosmic yoga so you could choose another one of those if you would like.

Thursday 21st May

Have a wonderful day everyone and remember you can share any work you have been doing with me by asking an adult to post it on your learning journal.

Mrs Clayton.

Primary 2/1 – 21.5.20 😁

 Happy Morning to you all,

Hope you all enjoyed the gorgeous weather yesterday!

Today is Outdoor Classroom day (hopefully it stays dry for some of the day)

The Outdoor Classroom Day movement and the coronavirus crisis

Choose at least one idea to take part in (or more if you would like).  I would love to see some photos of your outside classroom.  Here are some ideas:

  • Make a nature crown out of leaves, cardboard or twigs.
  • Use a cardboard box and paints to make beautiful butterfly wings.
  • Turn yourself into your favourite animal with a simple mask.

If you do not fancy any of these go to the link below and there is a page of different resources and ideas.

P3 Learning Activities

Good morning everyone,

It is another beautiful day, the sun is shining and I hope you are ready for our class learning activities?

I found a book on Oxford Owls featuring Winnie the Witch. Have a read as it will tell you how Winnie is coping with Lock down.

I also thought you could have a go at adding some simple fractions together. We are using the pictorial method to work out the sum, there are pictures to help you. To complete today’s work we are only adding the numerator- Top half of one fraction with the top half of the other fraction. You can use the picture to tell you how many parts to colour. First click on the PDF picture and the worksheet will download for you. You can either print it out or copy the sums into your jotter or a piece of paper and you can answer the questions.

Log on to Sumdog to practise your numeracy skills.

For today’s challenge, I thought it would be great if you could try some cooking or baking. Try to make something healthy. Maybe you can make enough for all your family to share as a snack.

Pea shoots- If your seeds have begun to germinate then you are ready to plant them in some soil. Remember that soil helps to give the germinating seed the essential nutrients it needs to grow. If you don’t have a pot to plant in, then you can use a recycled tin- a soup, bean or vegetable tin is ideal. Give it a wash and remove the label. Be careful! Avoid touching the inside rim of the tin as it will be very sharp and can cut you. You could ask an adult to help you with this. Fill with soil and place the germinating seed inside, roots down, shoot up. Cover with a thin layer of soil and add a little water. You can pop your seed outside in the garden or watch it grow on a windowsill. Remember, light is also essential for a plant to grow as it allows the plant to make it’s own food. Can anyone remember what this process is called?

I would love to see pictures of your pea seeds or planting process and your healthy snacks. Feel free to email your photos to the school email address and I can share them to our P3 Blog page.

Primary 1 – Wednesday 20th May

Good morning,

Below is today’s learning grid! I’m sure most of you guys will have read the school newsletter that mentions that teachers will be phoning all the pupils in their classes! I have made a start yesterday so just another little reminder that I will be in touch at some point this week for a little catch up with parents and children! Excited to have a chat and see how everyone is getting on and if there’s anything you are unsure of or need that I can help with! I will also be at lunches today so if anyone needs paper, pencils or anything to help with the poster project, I will have stuff availble to collect between 12-1.30pm.

As always, I’d love to see and hear about the work you are doing at home or even just a hello! Missing everyone and school life but so proud at how well everyone is adapting!

Thank you again,

Miss Duncan 🙂
