In writing this week the class have been focusing on planning to aid in the writing process. We discussed different ways that people like to plan and the different sorts of writing plans which we could use to write our stories. We had some visitors in during the planning stage and they were impressed with how creative the class were being with their planning and how much they could talk about their learning in writing. Well done!

We have read up to Chapter 10 in our transition novel ‘The Boy in the Dress’ and will read the rest of this when we go to Broxburn Academy after the summer. We were introduced to the poem ‘Timothy Winters’ which we are going to be writing a critical essay about at the start of next week. We started our work on the poem by annotating the different techniques which the poet had used such as similes, metaphors and repetition. Remember that next Wednesday and Thursday are transition days to Broxburn Academy and the children should go straight to the Academy.

In our indoor P.E. slot on Wednesday the class enjoyed participating in some Yoga which they followed on the big screen. The yoga and movements were based around a Star Wars story and the children are looking forward to doing this again. During outdoor P.E. on Thursday we enjoyed the sunshine and participated in a Mini-Olympics with P7/6. We represented different groups of countries and participated in events such as the sprint, hurdles, long jump, hammer and javelin. A reminder that Sports Day Option 1 is on Tuesday and that all children should bring their P.E. kits for this.

Have a lovely weekend 🙂
