P6 – Week Beginning the 24th October

This week we wrote gruesome recipes based on the book ‘How to Cook Children’ by Martin Howard. Mrs Telfer was really impressed with our recipes. Some of the titles include, ‘Ruby Rhubard Crumble,’ ‘Bella Bolognaise with Snot Sauce’ and ‘PENNYcotta.’ In Maths we continued with our Mental Maths strategies. We did a walk about answering the sums of the other people in the class. It was great fun and really got us thinking.  We made 3D pictures of ourselves in art. They look amazing.

P7 Week beginning 9 October

In our final week before half term we were very busy :

  • We completed our newspaper reports on the sinking of the Titanic and typed them up
  • We revised mental strategies that we could use for mental addition of three and four digit numbers
  • We tried to solve this weeks Daily Rigour Maths Challenge
  • We carried out research for our essay on ‘Make A Difference’ we decided to focus on how we could make little changes that would help to save the planet -some of the things we investigated were  non- renewable and renewable energy sources, how we could reduce, reuse and recycle materials, and how we could walk instead of driving everywhere!
  • We continued to make our 3D Titanics..

We still have  to look at the the lessons that were learnt from the sinking of the Titanic and we will finish our topic after the holidays…..

Week Beginning 9th October

During our last week in Primary 1 before the October break we have been enjoying more Colourful Consonant games and keeping our Pupil Profiles up to date. We have been writing a personal story about our weekend and investigating 2D shapes. Listening to Katie Morag stories inspired us to create kilts; we think Katie Morag would love wearing them! One of our P7 buddies wrote a special story and came to read it to her P1 buddy. During our Class Talks we have found out lots of information from where family members live in Ireland to Panda’s and their habits. In RE we thanked God for the wonder of Autumn. In PE we have been practicing ball skills. On Thursday we had a reward afternoon which was great fun. Mrs McGonigal came in to share the story of Little Red Riding Hood; we have lots of actions for the characters now! We have had a busy, but fun, first term. Have a restful October holiday, see you all after the break!
