P7 – Week beginning the 6th November 2017

This week in Primary 7

  • we used key words to help us to answer questions on ‘Remembrance Day’
  • we studied the poem ‘In Flander’s Field’ and wrote some poems of our own
  • we created 3D poppies
  • we found out about the artist Georgia O’ Keefe and used blending techniques to create  poppies in the same style
  • we found out about doubling and halving strategies in Maths
  • we took part in the Linlithgow Athletics festival and won lots of our relay races!
  • we collected money for poppies for Poppy Scotland
  • we presented our solo talks on the Titanic to the rest of our class
  • we all had fantastic reports on parent’s night

Week beginning 6th November

This week we had parents evening. Our parents had the opportunity to see our jotters and our teacher. Our highlights from this week include:

  • We used alliteration and onomatopoeia to create firework poems with Mrs McClean
  • We worked in small groups to create water cycle posters and we made water cycle wheels
  • We played top spot in Maths to practice our addition
  • Miss Scott joined us on Tuesday morning we look forward to seeing her next week too
  • We learnt about the life of St Francis of Assisi
  • There was a book fair at parents evening

Week beginning 30th October

It has been a scary at school this week. On Monday everyone dressed up to celebrate Halloween. Our highlights from this week include:

  • We had a Halloween Parade
  • Peter came on Monday afternoon to help us with our work. He will be coming all this term. He is a student from the Academy.
  • We had a Halloween activity afternoon
  • We created some firework art
  • We started learning about the water cycle

Week beginning the 30th of October

This week primary 2 dressed up for Halloween and paraded in front of the school!  We wrote an Acrostic poem all about Fireworks, we thought of some fantastic adjectives!  We went to mass with Father Paul to celebrate ‘All Saints day’.  We have been learning ball skills in P.E with Mrs McMaster.  We began singing the songs for our nativity ‘Granpa’s Nativity Story’.

Week Beginning the 30th October

We had a spooky start to our week this week when everyone cam dressed up for Halloween on Monday and we had a Halloween parade.

  • On Monday afternoon we went over to Linlithgow Primary School to watch a show called ‘Up to Speed’ about a girl and a boy, Jade and Barnaby ,and what it’s like to be the odd one out. The show was very good and made us think about Children’s Rights and how we should treat everyone equally.
  • On Tuesday we were invited to St Kent’s to watch their amazing production of Les Mis. The show was fantastic and we were delighted to see that Niamh Mullholland and Ciara Fitzsimons had main parts. Their singing was out of this world. Michael Boyle performed with the orchestra. His trumpet playing was excellent. We think we have some budding stars of the future in P7. This show motivated us to work hard in music and drama.
  • In Literacy we completed our diaries on our journey on the Titanic.
  • In Maths we used symmetry to complete some tricky Halloween pictures
  • In Art we completed our Art Deco posters.
  • We enjoyed our All Saints Mass on Wednesday.

P7 – Week Beginning the 24th October

Welcome back after the holidays! It is great to be back!

This week  in

  • Literacy we have started to write a diary recount about our time on board the Titanic we have enjoyed this so much we will have to continue it next week!
  • ICT – We completed our newspaper reports
  • Maths – We revised addition and subtraction of 4 and 5 digit numbers
  • Technology – We continued with our 3D Titanic
  • Art – We created posters in an Art Deco Style
  • Team building – We continue to work on our Team Building skills

P3 – Week Beginning the 24th October

 

Back to school for a new term and we can’t wait till Christmas! Nine weeks according to Amelia. Our highlights from this week include:

· We have now started Terrific Thursday’s where we get to do different learning activities in the morning each week.

· We carried out an experiment to prove evaporation occurs

· We had our Flu sprays

· We took part in Author Live. Kes Gray read his stories ‘Oi Frog!’ and ‘Quick Quack Quentin’.

· We did some dramas about how we could help someone who is being bullied

· We made skeletons in the playground to scare the parents!

· We wrote about our holidays

P5 – Week beginning the 24th October 2017

This week in Primary 5 we have been;

· Learned about the Rosary in RE.

· Learning about negative numbers. We went outside and drew our own negative number lines.

· Finding out about the rules of Cricket and played ‘Non-stop cricket’

· Presenting our Australian animal talks

· Futsal- dribbling and speed skills

· 2v2 in Volleyball and handball matches in PE.

· Practising describing skills in writing to continue our Dojo stories with a setting focus.

 

P2 – Week Beginning the 24th October 2017

This week primary 2 have been learning about the properties of 2D shape.  We have been describing the number of edges and corners of squares, circles, rectangles, triangles and hexagons.  We have been for a shape hunt in the playground to find examples of 2D shapes and used 2D shapes to design a robot. We listened to a live broadcast from the author Kes Gray who told the story ‘Quick Quack Quentin’.  We listened to the story ‘Room on a Broom’ by Julia Donaldson and drew and labelled a picture of the Witch with adjectives from the story.
