P3 Week Beginning 11th June

The big highlight this week was our performance on Tuesday. We looked great and we rocked! Other highlights include:

  • We have completed this year’s work on division and multiplication.
  • We met Ruan the Red Squirrel at the book festival.
  • There are auditions for St Joseph’s got talent today.
  • We started a topic all about The Beatles
  • We did a talk to the Primary 4 class about the different members in the Beatles.
  • We wrote book reviews about Ruan the Red Squirrel
  • Amelia, Izzy, Niamh and Beatrix sang ‘Journey to the Past’ for the class.

P3 Week Beginning 4th June

We have had a busy week preparing for the Rookie Rockstars concert. It has involved lots of singing, dancing and air guitar! Our highlights of the week include:

  • Learning about division by 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10.
  • Creating information posters on our chosen Living Thing for our Profiles
  • Having our own class rap battles.
  • Designing CD covers
  • Preparing for St Joseph’s Got Talent.
  • Finding out that Amelia’s baby brother has arrived!

 

P3 Week Beginning 28th May

It has been a little quieter in school this week after such a busy time last week. Our highlights of the week include:

  • We found out that our P4 teacher is Mrs Grant and we look forward to doing some work with her.
  • We have finished giving our talks about Living Things. Everybody did a fantastic job.
  • In maths we have been learning to multiply some 2 digit numbers.
  • We wrote acrostic poems about living things
  • We learnt about the life cycle of humans in health
  • Katie came in to help us with our learning yesterday. She is a high school pupil.
  • We learnt how vertebrates are organised as Mammals, Birds, Reptiles, Fish and Amphibians

P3 Week beginning 21st May

It’s been Health Week this week and we have had a fantastic time. Our highlights of the week include:

  • A Paramedic came in and showed us his ambulance
  • We had sports day and the Yellow 1 team won
  • We wrote newspaper articles about sports day
  • The police came in and spoke about the uniform they wear
  • We had a boot camp and Bo’s mum joined us. Well done!
  • We have started giving our living things personal talks
  • We had football, Tae Kwon Do and a dance session
  • We have been doing some mindfulness colouring during milk time
  • We learnt about lifeboats with the RNLI and we learnt about feet from a foot doctor

P3 Week beginning 14th May

It’s been a very sunny week at St Joseph’s. Our highlights of the week include:

  • Izzy bringing in cake for her 8th Birthday
  • We’ve been learning about right angles
  • We found some worms by worm charming
  • We made posters of the leaves at St Joseph’s
  • We wrote descriptions about imaginary animals. Remember to check your shoes for ‘Whatsits’. They mind nibble your toes.
  • We have new groups for Terrific Thursday’s
  • We’ve been learning about coordinates and playing battleships

p3 week beginning 7th May

 

We’ve only been in school for two and a half days and we talked about our fantastic long May weekend. Our highlights of the week include:

  • We had a special assembly led by Linlithgow’s Deacons. They told us about the Marches and a competition to decorate our bikes.
  • We did a Maths check up all about subtraction
  • We have finished decorating our plant pots
  • We had a visit from Kirsty Leonard who volunteers with Burgh Beautiful Linlithgow. She told us about Friends and Foes of the garden.
  • We had a May procession and we put our blossom art and flowers on the alter for Mary.
  • We went to Mass at church yesterday for Ascension Thursday.
  • We have been talking about the value of caring and how babies need to be nurtured.

P3 Week Beginning 30th April

We continue to work hard but we are looking forward to our well deserved long May weekend. Our highlights of the week include:

  • Some of our sunflowers have started to grow
  • We found out that water cress only needs water to grow but needs sunlight to be healthy
  • We went to the loch to find out what creatures live in and out of the water
  • We have been making some powerpoints about the animals we found and the trees at our school
  • We have been making some blossom art, using a coke bottle!
  • We have been working on our subtraction of numbers to 100
  • We wrote instructions about how to grow a sunflower
  • We gave each other awards for being good neighbours to complete our work on the Good Samaritan
  • There is a cake sale today

P3 Week Beginning 23rd April

This we have been using the big playground for the first time while the Primary 7’s have been away. Our highlights of the week include:

  • We had Primary 2’s Mass
  • In maths we have been subtracting 2 digits with bridging
  • We have planted sunflowers some of which we will put into our Primary 3 planter
  • We made pledges about how we will behave in the playground
  • We are conducting an experiment to see how best to grow watercress
  • We wrote thank you letters to Brugh Beautiful Linlithgow for all the hard work they do to make our town pretty
  • We have been doing some joined up handwriting
  • On Monday we had an extra PE lesson with Miss Broadley

P3 Week beginning 16th April 2018

We have begun our new topic about Living Things. Our highlights of the week include:

  • We have some new reading comprehension booklets
  • We have been looking at how to subtract with bridging
  • We have started a work learning the 4x table
  • We have started learning how to write joined up
  • We did some drama in RE performing the story of the Good Samaritan
  • We wrote stories about looking after animals and have been giving some talks about how to care for a pet
  • We have been learning about climates (Polar, Temperate, Arid and Tropical)

P3 Week Beginning the 9th April

We hope everyone had a great Easter and didn’t eat too much chocolate. We are now raring to go in our last term of Primary 3. Our highlights of the week include:

  • We have entered a Radio Times Art competition. Designing a front cover for the Royal Wedding addition.
  • We wrote imaginative stories about taking part in the Commonwealth Games for the Young Writer of the Year competition.
  • In Maths we learnt about data handling. We sorted Commonwealth flags on Carroll Diagrams and Venn Diagrams.
  • We had a reward afternoon.
  • We learnt about the history of the Commonwealth Games and researched about some of the Scottish Athletes.
  • We have been learning about verbs
