Week beginning 28th of May

This week Primary 2 have been learning about the life of Grace Darling.  We wrote a report on the events of the rescue of survivors from the ship wrecked Forfarshire in 1838.  We used digital technology to design a lighthouse in response to the story ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Rescue’.

Week beginning 21st of May

Primary 2 have had a fantastic Health Week!  Thanks to Mrs Telfer and the HWB Committee for organising such great activities! We loved taking part in Boot Camp, Sport’s Day, Enjoy-a-ball, dance and Martial Arts.  We also learned lots from the police, the ambulance service, the RNLI and Mr Godley our local Podiatrist!

 

Week beginning 14th of May

Primary 2 have been learning about the importance of lighthouses.  We listened to the story of the ‘Lighthouse Keeper’s Breakfast’ and created our own breakfast.  In maths we have continued to learn about equal groups, repeated addition and arrays.  In French we have been playing colour games. We enjoyed playing basketball with the P.E students.

Week beginning 30th of April

This week primary 2 has been learning about creatures living in rockpools.  We listened to the story ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Cat’ and did a story map of the events.  In maths we have been learning about equal groups and arrays.  The P.E students took us outside to do mini athletics, it was great fun!

 

Week beginning 16th of April

This week we started our new topic.  We are learning all about seaside habitats and creatures living in rockpools through the Lighthouse keeper stories.  In literacy we are continuing to read and spell compound words, we have spotted lots through our new topic! We have using our technology skills to build lighthouses and boats with lego.  In maths we have been weighing in non-standard units. We made blossom tree pictures for our primary 2 mass to celebrate Spring.

Week beginning 9th of April

Welcome back! Primary 2 have had a great start to the term.  We have been drawing fruit and vegetable portraits in the style of the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo.  We created a story map of the events of the story ‘What the Ladybird Heard’.  We have been measuring in non-standard units using our hand span and feet in the playground and classroom.

Week beginning 5th of March

Primary 2 have been learning all about Fairtrade this week.  We have been learning about the journey of the banana and designing Fairtrade Fortnight posters which were displayed at the Fairtrade community event on Friday night at Linlithgow primary.  We worked in pairs to produce a story map of the story of ‘Whistleless’ a bird who lost its whistle.  We used talking tins to record our stories putting the events in the correct order.  We dressed up on Friday to celebrate ‘World Book Day’.

Week beginning 5th of March

Primary 2 have been learning all about Fairtrade this week.  We have been following the journey of the banana and designing Fairtrade Fortnight posters which were displayed at the Fairtrade community event on Friday night at Linlithgow primary.  We wrote a story map about ‘Whistleless’ the bird who lost its whistle.  We worked in pairs to talk about the story and retell the events in the correct order using talking tins to record the story.  We dressed up to celebrate ‘World Book Day’  on Friday.

Week beginning the 29th of January 2018

Primary 2 have had a very busy week.  We have been learning to put the events of the story ‘The Little Red Hen’ in a logical order.   We used a variety of materials to design our own farm.  In maths we have been learning new vocabulary (before, after, more than, less than) to sequence numbers within 100.  Some of us went to the St John’s Church to present ‘Katie Bairdie’ to celebrate Robert Burn’s day.

Week beginning 22nd of January

Primary 2 delivered an amazing performance of Katie Bairdie to the school community on Friday.  We have been learning about Scots language and created a Gruffalo ‘Wanted’ poster in Scots.  In topic we have been learning about the different ways farmers care for their animals.  We have enjoyed role play activities in our farm shop and created some amazing farm buildings with lego.
