The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Saturday 28th March 2020

So the sun is out today and I’m starting to think about all the little caterpillars that are starting to think about getting ready to turn into butterflies. For the activity today you can listen to Eric Carle ( author of The Very Hungry Caterpillar) reading his amazing story.  Even although he wrote this book over 50 years ago a study recently revealed that it is the most read children’s book in Britain today!

Once you have listened to the story you can watch the video below explaining the stages that a caterpillar goes through before it turns into a beautiful butterfly!

New Look Blog

Now that we have all got the hang of using this blog we have changed the look of it so that all blog posts will appear on the home page in chronological order.  You can still filter posts, however, by clicking on the relevant category at the bottom of the page.

Advice for Parents

It is a very stressful and uncertain time for us all but it can be particularly difficult to know how best to explain the current situation to our children.  Below are some resources that you might find useful.  Of particular interest is the story about Dave the Dog which explains Coronavirus in a manner that is both easy to understand and reassuring for children.  We are especially aware as to how difficult this time will be for children on the autistic spectrum and we have included a social story that you can share with them.  We hope that you find these useful.

P3 Potato Competition

Happy Friday Primary 3!
Hope you have all had a lovely week.
Attached are both Primary 3 potatoes. Which one do you think is closest to the window, Bag A or Bag B? Why? What do plants need to grow?

Lets see if Bag A will grow more for next week after I have moved it closer to the window?
