P2 Maths Answers

Hello Primary 2. How are you all?

That’s Friday again – yippee!

Well done to everyone who has been working hard on Sumdog. I also know that AO has been trying to do some Readingwise – well done, keep it up.

Here’s the answers to this week’s Maths questions. How did you get on? Were they tricky or easy-peasy lemon-squeezy or a mix of both? Let us know and we can change future ones to help you.

Did any of you try Mrs Fairley’s Writing Competition? How about Roy the Zebra? Did you enjoy the chapter?
Have a lovely holiday weekend – no “school” on Monday and Tuesday – you can chill.

Take care,
love Mrs Duff and Mrs Kohler

Good Morning P1M

How are you all?  It’s a beautiful sunny morning so hopefully you will be able to get out to play again.

Hello EC. It was lovely to hear from you yesterday and thank you for sending me your lovely picture and story.  You have been working very hard learning to say the colours in French and the 6 and 7 times tables!  You must have very good teachers at home.  Well done everyone.

I know how much you all enjoyed our Cosmic Kids Yoga sessions in class, and Friday morning is usually our PE session so here are some activities you can try.  All the family can join in too.  Have fun!

Time Capsule Journal

I thought that this might be a nice activity to do if you feel like doing something other than school work for a change.  You can use this journal to describe your strange topsy-turvy life at the moment and I think it would be a great record to look back on in the years to come when our life has gone back to normal again.  If you would like a copy but don’t have a printer just comment on this post and I will organise to have one printed at school for you.  Click on the link below to download a copy.

Nessy Reading and Spelling

We all love a freebie and I’d just like to remind parents that I have got some free licences for the online Nessy Reading and Spelling programme.  Although it was initially designed for dyslexic pupils it is really useful for improving spelling and reading generally.  If you would like to find out more about it click here.  If you are interested just e-mail me with your child’s date of birth and I will send you login details.  Mrs Matthews (morna.matthews@westlothian.org.uk)

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all well.  Thank you M McK for sending me  a photo of your lovely story and picture yesterday!

It was lovely to hear from you.

Hello AA.  I see you have been trying out some of the challenges. Well done!

I will set you all some more challenges on Sumdog today.

Axel Scheffler has illustrated a book for children explaining about Coronavirus.  You might want to have a look at it or there are other activities and free resources for you to look at if you click on the link below.

Have a good day.

The Water Cycle

Thursday 30th April 2020

As I look out of my window this morning I see RAIN!! It feels like it has been sunny for ever!  For today’s activity we are going to be scientists and investigate how rain is formed.  Not to be outdone by Mrs Fairley’s dog Bruno yesterday, my cat Maisie has got an interesting fact about the water cycle.  Did you know that the Earth has been recyling water for over 5 billion years?!

Click on the raindrop below to find out about the  water cycle and maybe later you could try the experiment in the video below.

Panda cam

Wednesday 29th April 2020

What is your favourite animal?  Mine is the panda and as I can’t visit Edinburgh Zoo today I have been watching their live panda cam.  So far all I’ve seen are the zoo-keepers cleaning out their enclosure but I’m hoping to catch a glimpse of either Yang Guang or Tian Tian later!  Click here to have a look too.

Afterwards you might like to learn how to draw a panda using the tutorial below.
