Connolly School Campus – Dream Believe Achieve

Welcome to the Connolly School Campus Learning Blog.

Through this blog all staff and pupils will have regular opportunities to share, showcase and celebrate the highlights of their learning as they happen throughout the year.
Click on the tabs to read the recent news from each class in the school.
We hope that parents and carers will encourage pupils by responding positively to any posts they read.

Transport

Class 2 have been completing a survey on Transport.  We have been using tally marks to gather information on how many cars we see driving past our school.  From this information we can find out what colour of car is the most popular.  Unfortunately, the street outside our window is far too quiet.  Class 2 are going to have to go out to the main street in Blackburn so that we can gather more information.  We are going to use this information to make a bar-graph.

Health Week

Health Week was enjoyed by all of Class 2.  Kai D particularly enjoyed finding out how much sugar is in the food he eats and Simon thought the smoothie we made in class was 10/10 delicious.  The children also liked learning from staff at Tesco who came in for a visit armed with healthy snacks.

One thing we are going to continue after Health Week is our daily mile.  That will encourage us to be more active even after this week.

Class Novel

Class 2 have just finished reading Anthony Horowitz’s ‘Granny’.  ‘Granny’ was about a family who was being terrorized by their grandmother.  Nobody liked Granny but everyone was too afraid to admit that out loud, in fear of looking bad for hating an old lady.  Gran was unbelievably mean, especially to children.  She even had a wicked plan but we don’t want to spoil that for you in case you ever read it.

We would definitely recommend the book as we all gave it 10/10.  Ben said the book was incredible and he didn’t want Miss Hendry to stop reading it.  Kai C said that the book was fun.  Kai D said that it was quite interesting that the character of Granny was bad when you would expect her to be good.

Library Visit

Class 2 are focusing on reading for enjoyment.  As part of our independent reading, we decided that a visit to our local library was a must.

The pupils were so impressed with the range of books on offer that they all borrowed one each.  We even borrowed some audio stories to listen to on our CD player.

It was so lovely to see the pupils engaging with the books.  Many of the boys said that they would love to become a member of their local library.

Here are some photographs of the boys enjoying some  reading time.  I’ve never seen them so quiet!
