Happy World Book Day P5!

Imagine having another snow day, isn’t that fun!

I know some of you will be very sad to be missing the pyjamas for books event today. I guess you’ll still be able to wear your pyjamas all day though, just not at school!

Anyway, here are a few activities you could try (pyjamas optional) to celebrate World Book Day at home…

  • Act out a scene from your favourite book, you may need to get brothers, sisters or friends to help. Perhaps you could film it? (Don’t choose the scene from Holes with the shovel and Mr Pedanski!)
  • Create a scene using lego or similar.
  • Have you any books at home you haven’t read yet? Now would be a great time to try them out.
  • Build a snow character from a book you have read. Or a snow whale!!
  • Write a quiz based on When the Whales Came and bring it to school next week for us all to try. (I’ve just found out there is a film of this, I’ll see if I can find it. Maybe you can too?)
  • Draw a new front cover for one of our class novels or group readers. You could even write your own blurb.

Hope you’re all having a fun time

P5 Snow Day Work!! (If you want to :-)

Hi Primary Five,

Hope you are all having a lovely snow day.
Most important task: Have fun in the snow! You could add pictures of your snowmen or igloos in the comments…

If you are too cold now and looking for an activity you can choose some, or all, of the following..

Draw a picture of how you felt when you found out it was a snowday! Can you write a paragraph describing how you felt and what you did. Try to include some of what we were working on in writing yesterday, actions to explain feelings. Remember one or two great sentences are better than a paragraph that hasn’t been planned and structured.

Draw a picture, or write about, what you did today. Who were you with? Adding detail is the important focus, think of our writing improvements.

Write a list of words to describe the winter weather. I bet you coud get 25+ with some effort!

If you have access to a computer please keep searching for appropriate whale jokes. Post in comments if you’d like to.

Of course it’s always great to go onto Sumdog and see how much you can improve your score, maybe get a new trick for your pet. Email me results if asked please.

Assembly words practice (if possible) or work on a mini ocean fact file.

lastly, but definitely not least, we need to keep the times tables practice going! You know which ones you need to work on. That would be a super fantastic way to spend a little bit of your snowday.

See you all tomorrow!

Lendrick Muir – Day 2

P5 and 6 have settled in very well.

A really good night with a decent amount of sleep generally.

Breakfast all finished and group activities are underway.  The weather, although not as sunny as yesterday, still pretty good.

We all have the Blackridge Survival game later this morning, sounds interesting! Followed by more group activities and finished tonight with the ‘Cheesy’ Disco!

Fun. fun, fun 🙂

Hopetoun House Visit

P5 went to Hopetoun House for the day. Everyone was given a role to play. Samuel got to be the most important person, the butler.

Chloe and Emily were the scullery maids, they got the blame for everything that went wrong!

It was really good fun learning about the jobs and responsibilities.

We got to write with quills and ink and even made our own butter with the butterchurn (which we tasted on a scone today!)img_2736 img_2749 img_2756 img_2762 img_2773 img_2777 img_2792 img_2808 img_2809 img_2814 img_2828 img_2837
