Primary 7 Faairtrade Day

Hi Primary 7

Hope you are all enjoying your ‘Snow Days’! Here are a couple of ideas for you today!

Make Fairtrade cookies – Mrs Gallagher gave you the recipe, if you can’t remember or don’t have it – make Fairtrade crispy cakes!

After that plese visit this webpage

Fairtrade: a World of Di!erence

https://teachers.theguardian.com/system/files/assets/289/5464/KS2_PSHE.pdf

Read the stories and then compile a small report or powerpoint why we should support Fairtrade around the world.

See you all on Monday

World Book Day P7

DESIGN A BOOK COVER, poster, bookmark or book bunting to decorate our class – you can use your favourite book or the one that you are reading in class.

Go Green

If you have access to an iPad then you can do great things at home using the Green Screen by Do Ink app. It’s really simple to use. It allows you to super-impose videos and photographs on to different backgrounds. Using it, you are able create videos where they are transported back in time or even standing on the moon!

For a World Book Day project  draw or paint a setting from your favourite book or a book you are reading in class, for example the Hogwarts dining hall. Then film yourself or a friend reading or performing a scene from that book. This can then be superimposed over their background artwork, transporting them into the world of the book –  you will think it is just magic!

Can’t wait to see the results!!!

I know you will all be out enjoying the snow, but learning and teaching can be great fun outdoors! So after you have had some fun lets see if we can write some

Snowy Poetry:

Brainstorm words you can use to describe snow. Using those words, write a poem about your favourite snowy memory of the day!

Then try this and we will debate your thoughts!

Write a balanced argument about
“Should schools close when it snows?

  •  3 good and detailed arguments for closing schools
  • 3 good and detailed arguments against closing schools

An introduction and a conclusion

Typical phrases (Some people may say that…, It is a fact that…, Statistics show that…, Many believe…)
Connecting words and phrases (On the other hand…, However…, Despite that…, Moreover…, Therefore…)
Facts and opinions
Remember to:

  • Ensure correct punctuation and a variety of punctuation, if you can
  • Keep sentences varied for interest (Including simple, compound, complex, questions etc.
  • Group ideas carefully together in paragraphs
  • Check your spelling
  • Use your device to collect and record your ideas videos each other!

Primary 7 donate toys to RiverKids in Livingston

Primary 7 collected and bought some toys to be donated to children who may not receive as much as them this Christmas. They contacted Riverkids who were happy to take all of the much needed toys from them! Well done P7 you are all very responsible citizens and should be proud of the effort you have made. Many children will now wake up on Christmas morning and have a big smile on their faces!river-kids img_06351

The total for this event is approximately £840, if anyone still has money to send in please do so. Primary 4 would like to thank everyone for their help and support.
