Eco week begins on Monday 13th May. During this week all children will have the opportunity to take part in the Big Spring Clean and each group will plant seeds which they will look after and plant out to enhance the garden area. Using games and group time activities children will also learn about recycling, reinforcing the eco work done throughout the year.

Eco Ted
Children have been learning a new Eco Code song which was ‘composed’ by some of the pupils from Whitdale Primary School. We also have a new ‘Eco Ted’ who is going to be part of our plans to involve children in recycling and other Eco activities in the nursery and at home.
A ‘sticky’ situation
Children recycled trimmings from the garden to make clay hedgehogs. This activity helped to develop fine motor skills through shaping the clay and inserting the sticks to make the hedgehogs’ spines. The pincer movement used to pick up the small twigs and push them into the clay is really good for developing a correct pencil grip!
