Forest Trip

During November and December we were out on our exciting trips to Fauldhouse Forest. The children had great fun learning interesting facts and survival tips from the Forest Ranger. We even got to pick and help cut down our very own Christmas Trees for our Nursery.

The Mad Hair Day in the nursery in aid of Comic Relief was a great success. Through particpating in fundraising activities such as this children are developing an awareness of helping others in the wider community. Thank you to everyone for making such a great effort!

We made a fabulous £114.27. Well done to everyone for their hardwork and a big THANK YOU to families and friends of all the children for helping!

Snow Business

The children have been enjoying the snowy weather outside. They made snow angels and used rakes to make patterns in the snow. The children observed the icicles melting and reforming on the side of the garden house. They were able to observe how water changes  from one state to another as the temperature outside rises and falls.

What a busy start to the New Year!

Due to the cold weather children have been observing and feeding the birds. We used binoculars to observe them more closely and children recorded and extended their learning in our Winter floorbook.

On the 25th January we celebrated our Scottish heritage. We had vegetarian haggis, neeps and tatties, we enjoyed dancing to Scottish music, listening to Scottish stories and learned traditional songs and rhymes. Children developed their mathematical knowledge by making their own tartan patterns.

Children have been very interested in the demolition of the old nursery and school building. This has generated a lot of discussion which we will take forward in our new Construction floorbook.
