Primary 1 Literacy/P.E

Good morning boys and girls.

Today for literacy your going to do your daily tasks.

Can you practise the words on your word wall with an adult. How quickly can you say them? How many new words do you know?

Can you play a game of pairs with some of your words from your word wall. Pick 8 words, you will need to make two sets of words so that you can play the game. You can cut up squares of paper and write the words on them.
Turn all the words over so you can not see them, take turns to turn two cards over, saying the tricky word you reveal. If you match the words then you keep the cards. How many pairs can you get?

ng sound – I have created a challenge on sumdog for you to play to practise spelling words with the ng sound in them. Have a try! I will log into sumdog and see how well you are doing.

Reading – sign into oxford owl and read Big Bad Bug again. Can you make a new front cover for the book?

For P.E today why not try some dancing with Oti Mabuse? Here is the link to join in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SboNzLZea0o

Keep washing your hands boys and girls.

Primary 2

Good morning boys and girls. It’s almost the Easter holidays – not long to go now!

MATHS

This morning please can you watch this video to remind you about telling the time.

Now can you please complete a time worksheet from your home learning pack – chose whichever one you would like to do. Ask an adult to check it for you.

Now can you teach someone in your family what you know. Teach them about the hands of the clock and where the big hand and little hand should be pointing to at different times. You can also teach them about digital time if you can.

If you can – practice counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. Try and go as far as you can. You could then try to start from different numbers to make it trickier, If you want a challenge, then try to count backwards in 2s, 5s and 10s. Here is a 100 square to help you if you need it. Good luck! Mrs Reid

Natural Art

It’s important to exercise and get some fresh air.  Go on a walk and collect fallen leaves, sticks, petals and use them to make a picture or sculpture.  Remember we would love to see your creations please email them to the school.

Numeracy

Write the 2 times table onto pieces of card.  Turn the pieces of card over and select one at a time.  I would like you to make an array using materials from around the house toy cars, counters, buttons or cheerios.  Remember an array is made up of rows and columns.

You can use this game to explore making different arrays

P1 Maths and Craft

Good afternoon everyone,

For Maths this afternoon we would like you to keep doing your daily task:

  1. Counting forwards to 100. Here is another wee song to help you.

  1. Count backwards from 20. Here is a song counting backwards from 50 that will get you moving!

3. Practise you addition and subtraction facts to 5 or 10.

In your workbook please complete p. 4′ The numbers 6 and 7′.

Remember to take part in the Sumdog challenge that is still running. We can see how well you are doing with it.

And there are still tasks set on Education City. It is much easier to get into now, so why not have a go at the games there too.

For our craft this afternoon, you have a choice. Why not boil an egg and decorate it. Or design an egg on a piece of paper or card. We would love to see all your pictures so keep sending them into the school email, marked P1. wlpolkemmet-ps@westlothian.org.uk

If you have a spare moment, you could also go visit the animals in Edinburgh Zoo by watching them using the live cameras. Love the cheeky penguins and can you spot the tiger, its pretty tricky…

Here is the Eatwell Guide. As part of our Health and Wellbeing lessons, we are looking at the different Food Groups ( Fruit and Vegetables, Carbohydrates, Milk and Dairy, Food High in Fat and/or Sugar, Protein) and what makes a balanced meal. Here is an Eatwell Guide which gives us information on what makes a healthy and well-balanced diet.

The following link will take you to an interactive website where you have to sort food items into their relevant food groups.

Remember to complete work from your learning pack and to access Sumdog where we will be setting you new challenges.

Writing

We have been learning basic skills during PE.  I would like you to use the following skills throwing, catching, jumping and leaping to create your own game,  Next you will need to write a set of instructions for an adult to follow.  Remember to include what the aim of the game is, what equipment you will require and the steps to play the game.  As an extra challenge you could prepare a poster to advertise your game. It would be fantastic if you could post your instructions in the comments so we can all give it a try.

Primary 1 – Literacy/Easter

Good Morning Primary 1.

I hope your home learning is going well. Remember if we can help with anything or if you are unsure about something we have set you please leave us a comment.

Today we would like you to do a bit of writing to finish of our topic on people who help us in the community. We would like you to tell us about three different services you now know about. As a reminder we have learned about the police, the fire service, lifeboats, the library, doctors and nurses.

Pick three of these people and write one sentence about what they do for their job to help us. Draw a picture to match.

Here are a few example :

The fire service put out fires.

The doctor helps me when I’m sick.

You need to remember to use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. Remember once you are finished your writing you can send us your fantastic work into the school email address.
