Today we are going to focus on 2D shapes. Have a look a this powerpoint to remind yourself of the shapes. We have looked at in class. Once you have done that I have set you a challenge on SUMDOG for you to practise your 2D shapes. Lets see how many you can remember.

P1 Tuesday Literacy, PE, Music

Morning everyone,

Hope you managed to get outside and enjoy the sun for a little yesterday. Did you manage PE with Joe yesterday?

This morning for PE, lets try something a bit different. You could workout with Joe or why not try a dance class with Oti. Here is her Shrek dance, it’s lots of fun.

For Music this morning, we are singing songs linked to our topic which is eating healthily. Here are some for you to watch.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JldSBUQB34

Rhythm: Can you clap the syllables in some healthy food? How many claps is apple (2 claps) or banana (3 claps). Can you find a food with 4 claps?

For Literacy, keep doing you daily tasks and practise your tricky word wall. Pick two or three of the words you are finding a challenge to remember and get creative. Using whatever you have lying around to try make the word. Here are some I’ve made to give you some inspiration.

I used dried pasta, lego and cereal to make the words above. But you could use anything. If you don’t stick anything down then you can reuse your pasta or cereal like we do in class. Remember to take a picture in your head to remember the word for tomorrows word wall.

In your ‘writing sentences’ booklet in your pack complete p. 3.

There is also some games set in classwork on Education City. Why not have a go.

Pop back this afternoon for your new blog 🙂

P1, P2 and P3 window challenge

Afternoon boys and girls,

When out on our permitted daily exercise we have noticed all of your lovely rainbows and teddy bears. Some of you have made other things for your windows for other children to spot. So we would like to set you all a challenge.

Each week we would like you to decorate your window with some of your lovely artwork using a different theme. This weeks theme is …

Fairytales

Can you draw pictures of rapunzel or Goldilocks and the 3 bears for your window? What about Jack in the Beanstalk or the 3 Little Pigs.

Stick them in your window along with your rainbows for all the children and adults to spot when they go on their permitted daily walk.

Can’t wait to see them!

P1 Maths and IDL – healthy eating

Good afternoon boys and girls,

I hope you have managed to complete your tasks set this morning and that you have enjoyed getting back to your learning.

This afternoon for Maths we are going to look at symmetry. Can you tell someone at home what it means when something is symmetrical?

Remember its when the something  is the same on both sides.

Meet The Butterfly - Artemis - Medium

Today can you play this game on topmarks where you need to match up the pictures to make them symmetrical.

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/symmetry/symmetry-matching

Can you find things in your house that are symmetrical?

Why not try to make your own symmetrical picture today? Make sure it is the same on both sides. You could make a face, a butterfly, a house or a flower.

Remember you can complete your SUMDOG challenge too!

For health and well-being we are going to be focusing on healthy eating. This afternoon can you listen to the three videos below on espresso. Remember your login details are in your blue jotter.

https://central.espresso.co.uk/espresso/modules/ey_food/videos/video_healthy_eating.html?source=search-all-F-all-all&source-keywords=healthy%20eating#

You can also play the little game where you need to sort the fruits into the correct category.

Once you have listened to the videos can you make a list in your jotter of your favourite and least favourite foods. This can be done with labelled drawings.

Have a lovely afternoon everyone 🙂

P1 Literacy, PE and French

Good Morning girls and boys,

For Literacy this morning we are looking at the ‘sh’ sound. Remember ‘sh’ can be at the beginning or end of a word. Here is a wee song to remind you,

Can you think of 4 words with the ‘sh’ sound? Tell them to someone in your house.

In your blue jotter draw 2 pictures of things with the ‘sh’ sound such as ship, shoe, fish or dash. Remember to add lots of detail.

Once you have drawn your pictures can you write the word next to it using your knowledge of sounds – think about what the first sound is, the middle sound and the last sound.

Then, can you think of a sentence with the ‘sh’ sound and write it on the lines underneath. For example, The fish is on the dish.

Remember to practise reading the words on your tricky word walls. And there is a Sumdog spelling challenge for sh words for you to try this week.

For PE, are you still keeping up with Joe Wicks? I’m joining in with you – it certainly gets your heart pumping! I wonder what he will be dressed up as today?

For French, we learned the names of the colours in French. Can you remember any of them? Some are quite similar to the colour names in english. Can you name the colours of the rainbow in French with Camembear (click on link)?

And here is a wee song,

You can also pick some things to do on your home learning grid, if you are still looking for things to do.

Pop back this afternoon for maths and health and wellbeing tasks.

Bye for now 🙂
