Primary 3 Activities 17.06.20

Good morning

Hope everyone is having a good week so far!  We are going to try some Zumba this morning to get us started for the day.

Literacy

This week we are going to focus our literacy tasks based on stories by Julia Donaldson.  She is a favourite in our house.  Have you read any of her books?  Do you have a favourite author?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkVoYeCLIXU

Once you have listened to the story complete the tasks below.

In the story, the Highway Rat steals from others around him. Can you make a wanted poster for the Highway Rat, listing his name, what he looks like and his crimes?

Can you write a book/story review of the Highway Rat? What did you like/dislike about the story, and why? Is there anything you would have changed about it?

Can you write an apology from the Highway Rat to the other animals that he stole from to say sorry for what he had done and ask for their forgiveness?

Primary 3 – 16/6/20 PM

Good afternoon everyone 🙂

Music – from Mrs Keenan

Mrs Keenan has planned some Music activities to tie in with Health Week (/Fortnight!).  She would like you to join in with the following videos.

  1. 6 yoga poses that begin with the letter ‘s’.

2. Mindfulness for Children:

Topic – Food and Farming

Animals have different names for male (boys), female (girls) and their young (babies).  Look at this powerpoint that has lots of examples :

Farm Animals and their Young

Next, choose 3 animals to draw in your jotter.  Write down the word for the male, female and young next to your drawing.

Can you make a quiz for someone in your house about the different names?  Let me know how they get on!

Have a good afternoon,

Mrs Harding 🙂

Primary 3 – 16/6/20 AM

Good morning everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well today.  Remember to complete a daily diary entry to say how you are feeling and why (an activity from the latest Home Learning Grid, published 15/6/20).

Maths – Position and Movement

Last week we practised grid references and this week we have been practising describing position and movement.  I have set you some work on https://www.educationcity.com/ to practise all our work on Position and Movement.  Have a go at some of the games and the ‘think-it.’  (Your login details can be found at the front of your blue jotter.)

Literacy – Grammar

Today we will practise using conjunctions to join sentences.

To join two sentences, you replace the full stop with a conjunction to make one, long sentence.  e.g.

Give me the bag.  I will unpack it.  —> Give me the bag and I will unpack it.

Use and or but to join these sentences.

  1. I have lost my pencil.  I need it.
  2. Joe forgot his lunch. He was very hungry.
  3. It was very cold.  My new coat kept me warm.
  4. She likes drawing.  She does not like painting.
  5. Take this box. Leave the other one.

Now write some of your own sentences with and or but as a conjunction (joining word)!

Remember we have our class email address if you would like to send us photographs of your work or you have any questions:

Primary 3 – 15/6/20 PM

Good afternoon everyone,

Here are some tasks for you to try this afternoon.

Topic – Food and Farming

Listen to the radio broadcast, ‘Down on the Farm,’ and see if you can find the answers to the questions.  Write the answers as sentences in your jotter, remembering capital letters and full stops.

Listen to the ‘Summer’ programme here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/curations/down-on-the-farm-on-cbeebies-radio

Answer these questions:

Can you think of 3 more facts that you have learned from the programme?  Write these in your jotter too and draw a picture to go with them.

French

Do you know the well-known story of the Tortoise and the Hare?  If not, you can read it here:  Tortoise and the Hare Story

Now, watch it in French and see if you can identify any vocabulary (words): https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/z7tjmp3

Can you find things that are the same and things that are different between the two versions of the story?  Discuss these with someone in your house or write them down in your jotter.

Have a lovely afternoon, remember to email us if you have any questions or to send us some pictures of your work:
