Primary 2 – Tuesday 28th April

Good morning everyone. Here are a few tasks to complete this morning

LITERACY

Here is a picture of our class vowel house.

Remind yourself of the story. Retell it to someone in your family – make sure you show them the actions to match each sound. Try to think of one word for each sound (eg. ai – rain, oo – cook, oa – boat). Write down your words in your jotter and try to draw a picture to match each one.

 

MATHS

Practice your doubles to 10 then 20. Watch this video to remind you.

Hi everyone. Hope you have all had a good morning. Here are a few tasks for this afternoon.

MATHS

Continue to practice your number bonds to 10/20, as we were doing last week. Try to write down as many sums you can can that makes 10/20 in your jotter. Here is a number bonds to 10 video to help you

PE

Last week we were trying to balance using different parts of our body. Today, we are going to do some travelling. Can you try to travel from one side of your living room or your garden to the other using different parts of your body. Can you travel across only using your

  1. feet (run, walk, hop, skip, jump/gallop etc)
  2. knees only
  3. 2 hands and 2 feet on the ground
  4. rolling (log roll/forward roll)
  5. bottom and feet only
  6. stomach and hands only
  7. 2 hands and 2 knees only
  8. Any other way you can think of to travel

Try to get your family to join in with you. You can try and race each other to see who is the fastest.

Good morning boys and girls. I hope you have had a lovely weekend in the sun.

This morning for Literacy, can you write about your weekend? Write your news about the sunny weather. I spent the weekend in my garden painting my fence. What did you do? Remember to use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. Try to sound out any words you are not sure of or use your word wall to help you if you can. Mrs Reid!

Good morning boys and girls, another week of home learning is almost complete. This morning I would like you to practice your number bonds to 10. Complete the activity below in your jotter.

LITERACY

Read a book that you have at home with a member of your family. Try to answer these questions about the book you have just read.

  1. Who was your favourite character and why?
  2. Where did the story take place? How do you know?
  3. When did the story take place? What tells you this?
  4. How did the book begin?
  5. What is the book about?
  6. What was your favourite part of the story and why?

In your jotter, draw three different things that happening in your story (events). Try to write a sentence to describe your pictures. Remember capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.

Good afternoon everyone! Here are some activities for this afternoon

ART

This afternoon can you create a picture of some spring flowers? You can use anything you have at home – pens, crayons, paint, twigs/leaves from the garden. Make sure you make the petals, the stem and the leaves for your flowers.

SPRING WALK

Go on a walk with your family and see if you can see any spring flowers. Try to look for any other signs of spring as you walk. Think about what you can see/hear and smell. Here is a checklist to try and find when you are walking

  1. Blossom
  2. Flower buds
  3. Daffodils
  4. Birds
  5. Nest
  6. Flower
  7. Insect
  8. Lamb
  9. Green leaves
  10. Any other signs of spring

 

Once you have completed your walk, draw all the Spring things that you saw in your jotter and label them. Colour your pictures too. Enjoy!

P2 – Thursday 23rd April

Good morning everyone. Hope you are enjoying the lovely weather this week. Remember to put on sun cream and a hat when you are outside in the sun.

MATHS

This morning log onto Sumdog and complete the Maths challenge that I have set for you. I will log on and see how you are getting on. Good Luck!

Remember to continue practice counting in 2s/5s/10s starting from different numbers on the 100 square. Trying counting forwards and backwards.

Try up to 1000 and beyond if you can. Ask an adult to challenge you if possible. Keep working hard.

 

LITERACY

Continue to practice your tricky words on your word wall with a adult everyday. Try to spell the words on your word wall to. Make your words with playdoh/pasta/sand/pen/chalk outside etc.

 

We were learning about rhyming words. Watch these videos to remind you of some rhyming words. You can keep fit while you watch it

 

Now try to write in your jotter as many words that rhyme with

  1. dog
  2. cat
  3. bin

Try to think of words which have 4/5 letters that rhyme with these words too. Remember if words rhyme – the end of the words sound the same. Good Luck!

Hi boys and girls. This afternoon I would like you to choose a spring time animal and use the internet to find information about it. Try and find out facts about your animal – what it eats/where it comes from etc.

Present your information in your jotter. Remember to include – a title, drawings and 5 facts about your chosen animal.

You can choose which book you would like to read. You can choose more than one if you can. Read your book to someone in your family. Try to create questions about the book you have just read. Think of a question for each of the following question words – who/what/where/why/when? Write your questions in your jotter.

MATHS

For Maths today, we will recap 3D shapes. Watch this video to remind you about the 3D shape names

 

Try to find objects around your house, in your garden or on your daily walk that are 3D shapes. Make a list of them in your jotter.

 

We learned about 3D shape properties in March. Watch this video to remind you

 

Find objects around your house that are 3D shapes – tins of beans/boxes of cereal/balls etc. Explain to someone in your family how many faces, corners and edges each of your chosen shapes have. Try to draw a picture of each of your shapes in your jotter and label them.

Primary 2 – PE

For PE, we have been doing gymnastics. Can you watch the different balances on this link

Try these balances in your house or garden. Make sure you choose an open space and make sure no one is close to you that could get hurt. The first balance is really tricky, try it if you want to, but the others you should manage with some practice. Try holding each balance for as long as you can. P2 RME

Mrs Grenfell has an RME task for you to complete on Judaism. Here it is…

Judaism is a religion. Jewish people practice Judaism.

Every Friday evening until Saturday evening is called “Shabbat”. It is the holy day of the week.
