Primary 3 Literacy

Good Morning

I hope you had a lovely break and are enjoying being back to online learning.  Lets start the day off with a dance to get us wide awake and ready to learn.

Literacy

Choose one of your favourite books, pick ten words from a page and see if you can put them in alphabetical order.  If ten is a bit tricky try with 5 words first.

Remember you can also complete tasks on the home learning grid and log onto Sumdog, IDL and Education City.

I would love to see the work you have been doing. You can send it to the school email.

Easter Challenges

Good morning

Today we are going to have some  fun with Easter Challenges.

Please follow the instructions to draw an Easter Bunny.

Design an Easter hunt around your home or garden.  Draw a map for someone to follow.

Ask an adult to help you hard boil an egg.  Decorate it when it has cooled down.  Be as creative as you can.  Send in pictures of your decorated eggs to the school email.

Can you design an Easter card and write a set of instructions for an adult to follow.

Natural Art

It’s important to exercise and get some fresh air.  Go on a walk and collect fallen leaves, sticks, petals and use them to make a picture or sculpture.  Remember we would love to see your creations please email them to the school.

Numeracy

Write the 2 times table onto pieces of card.  Turn the pieces of card over and select one at a time.  I would like you to make an array using materials from around the house toy cars, counters, buttons or cheerios.  Remember an array is made up of rows and columns.

You can use this game to explore making different arrays

Good Morning

We are all trying to keep active at home.  Try a workout with Jump Start Jonny.

Reading

Today I would like you to start and play a game of Reading Bingo.  You have to spend 15 minutes on each challenge and then cross it out once complete.  Who will be the first to shout BINGO!

Remember to complete work from your learning pack and to access Sumdog where we will be setting you new challenges.

Writing

We have been learning basic skills during PE.  I would like you to use the following skills throwing, catching, jumping and leaping to create your own game,  Next you will need to write a set of instructions for an adult to follow.  Remember to include what the aim of the game is, what equipment you will require and the steps to play the game.  As an extra challenge you could prepare a poster to advertise your game. It would be fantastic if you could post your instructions in the comments so we can all give it a try.

Tricky Words

Now it’s time to have fun with our tricky words.  Write your words on pieces of paper/card and create your own game of BANG.  You will also need to write the word BANG several times.  Turn the words over so you can’t see them.  With a family member take it in turns to turn over a word and read it out.  If you read it correctly then you keep the word.  If you pick a BANG card you will need to return all your cards.  The person with the most words is the winner.  Good luck!

Sentence Time!

Choose 5 of your tricky words and write a sentence for each.  Underline your tricky words. Remember to check your sentences for capital letters and full stops.  It would be lovely to read your sentences so please post them in the comments.

Reading Challenge

Read to a teddy or stuffed animal.

Science
Mr McCrudden challenges you to build a tower.
You can use lego, books or anything that comes to hand. Two things to think about –
1) Safety –  make sure that you are a safe, an adult to hand is a good idea if you are thinking of going large.
2) Share a photo with your class of your tower. If you want to take the challenge further you can research the Burj Khalifa.

Primary 3 Basic Moves

During Basic Moves at PE we focused on over and under arm throwing.  Can you practice your over and under arm throwing at a target.  Your challenge is then to research and list as many ball games as possible where you need need to have good throwing skills.  It would be great if you could post your list.   Who can create the longest list?  Then choose one of the sports from your list and create a poster to promote it.

Remember to check that it is safe to throw!
