Hello everyone!
I hope you are well. Remember the Spelling Sumdog challenge is on all week, and you can access lots of books at: https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/
You should also be practising your tricky words each day.
Literacy – Grammar
Today we will be focusing on collective nouns. We already know that a noun is a naming word – a collective noun is a special name for a group of nouns. e.g a swarm of bees.
- Read the powerpoint below and have a go at the quiz at the end.
2. In your jotter, choose a word in bold to go with each collective noun.
books wolves flowers trees sheep cows
- a forest of ……………………..
- a herd of …………………….
- a bunch of …………………
- a flock of ……………………
- a pack of …………………….
- a library of …………………
3. Write in your jotter what you would expect to find in each of these groups (use information from the powerpoint to help with some):
- an army
- a crew
- a pride
- an orchestra
- a bouquet
- a gaggle
Maths – 3D Shape
Yesterday some of you explored the nets of 3D shapes. Today, use what you know about the properties of 3D shapes to match the net to the shape.
Using card from the art pack, try making another net of one of the 3D shapes.

Mrs Harding 🙂
This morning R enjoyed reading Winnie and Wilber Stay at Home from the Oxford Owl site. She said it was just like living in lockdown.
She completed the collective nouns task and was surprised at some of the names for groups of things, she found a gaggle of geese especially funny.
For maths she did very well matching the nets to the shapes.
1,A 2,E 3,D 4,F 5,C 6,B
She will also finish off the Sumdog spelling challenge and complete some more of the maths one.
Tuesday morning is also online dance class day and R can’t wait for hip hop and to see some of her friends online
Fabulous work!
Enjoy your dance class 🙂
J completed the Sumdog Spelling Task. We could get access to the link you put up for the collective nouns but he did complete the sentences and tried the 2nd lot of them.
J did really well matching the nets to the Shapes and also drew out a pyramid net with my help, then cut it out and taped it together to make a shape. Having seen how to do it, he then did it again himself.
We have also enjoyed reading some of his new Shifty McGifty book this morning – The Spooky School.
Oh, that’s a shame – I’m not sure what happened. It was a PowerPoint presentation explaining different collective nouns.
Well done for making your own 3D shape!
