Primary 3 Activities

Good afternoon

Numeracy

Choose a board game to play that involves rolling a dice and counting.  Then I challenge you to create your own board game, it may include counting, number recognition, ordering numbers or skip counting in 2’s, 5’s or 10’s.

Science

This weeks challenge is to make a paper tower. You can only use two ingredients – paper and tape. You can use any tape and paper you have in the house. A top tip is to make your paper into the shape of a tube, they are strong and light and are often used in building real buildings.
The idea is to build it as big as possible. Once you have built it up you can measure it, take a photo and send to the class email.

Daily Mile
One of your classmates had fun last week completing the Daily Mile in her favourite costume.  She would like to challenge you to do the same the next you do the daily mile.
We would appreciate it if parents could please click on the link below and complete the questionnaire by 26th May.

  1. R enjoyed a game of snakes and ladders with mummy and R win which she was very happy about.
She has made up her own game where you roll a dice and move that many spaces. If you land on a space with a sum then you need to answer it. If you answer correctly you get to move on 2 spaces and if you get it wrong then you need to move back 3 spaces. R has lots of fun making the game up and playing it.
R also enjoyed building the paper tower. She taped 5 pieces of paper togetger, rolled up and taped the edges. She managed a height of 126cm.
Her daily daft challenge is in the freezer and she is thinking of quick ways to melt it .

  2. I am pleased to hear you won the game. It was lovely to talk to you today and hear all about the game you made. You will need to let me know how you managed to melt it quickly. I will let Mr McCrudden about the height of your tower.
