RIGHT OF THE MONTH

As we strive towards better education and learning for our pupils, we will be celebrating Right of the Month, starting this month! Pupils will be learning about duty bearers; the adults who are responsible for protecting and nurturing them, specifically, school staff, parents and family members, and health and social care professionals. In February we are focusing on Article 24:

Every child has the right to the best possible health. Governments must provide good quality health care, clean water, nutritious food, and a clean environment and education on health and well-being so that children can stay healthy. Richer countries must help poorer countries achieve this.

Awareness of safe internet use is part of developing the best possible health for our pupils. Children and young people can often experience online bullying or begin chatting to and meeting people that they do not know and this often impacts their mental health and self-esteem.  It is important to talk to your child about how they use the internet and to ensure that you have appropriate safeguarding software to protect them. https://www.childnet.com/ and https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/ have lots of information for parents and carers as well as information, videos and games for pupils.
