Good Morning Everyone!

This week it’s STEM Week at Knightridge Early Years Centre

All of our activities this week will help develop our curiosity, our inquiring mind and our problems solving skills.

Mrs Glidden has posted the first of our activities on your Learners Journal.  Do you know what Forces are?  Why do you have a look at the activity and find out more.

Remember to share your learning on your Learners Journal.

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I hope you all enjoyed Sports Day activities yesterday.  We have been collecting all your photographs and will post them for all to see at the end of the week.

We all love reading a variety of books but I do sometimes wonder how the illustrator decides what to draw and how to draw the characters.

I’ve been watching Emily MacKenzie draw her famous character Granville and decided I need to try and draw a Granville for myself.

Can you watch the Authors Live video from Emily MacKenzie and draw your own Granville?

I have used the pen and whiteboard from my learning pack but you can use paper, pens, crayons, or even chalk on the pavement.

Have fun and remember to take a picture and share your learning with us on your learners journal.

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Have you been having fun in the sun?

Earlier this morning I uploaded a video to your learners journal on how to play Roll and Write.

Mrs McNee, Mrs Glidden and Mrs Pitblado have all been having a go in the garden.

Mrs Glidden used water and a paintbrush, Mrs McNee used paper and pen and Mrs Pitblado used chalk.

What did your use and what patterns did you make?

Share your learning with us by uploading a picture to your Learners Journal.

Look out for tomorrow’s Sports Day activities.  Details will be added to your Learners Journal in the morning.

Good Morning

Do you remember in the Three Little Pigs story where the pigs were “in” the houses and the wolf was “on top” of the houses?

Todays challenge is to see where you could put the characters from our stories. If you managed to make puppets for Jack And The Beanstalk or The Three Little Pigs you could use these. If you didn’t don’t worry you can still join in with todays activity using a teddy, doll or your favourite character. Mrs Glidden, Mrs Prentice and I have been busy finding lots of positions for our characters and you can see them below.

Can you spot which is “on-top”, “under”, “beside”and “in” ?

How many different positions can your character achieve in and around your house?

Can you use the positional words to describe this.?

We would love to see pictures of where your characters end up on your Learners Journal

Have fun

Good morning

I hope you enjoyed the Three Pigs Story. 🐷🐷🐷🐺
Which was your favourite house?🏠 I liked the brick house because it was so strong that the wolf couldn’t blow it down.

Mrs Farqhuar, Mrs Woods and Mrs Glidden have had lots of fun building houses using different things we have found in and around our homes. You can see the pictures below.

Could you build a house for a pig ? The wolf used his puffs to blow down two of the pigs houses.
Will your house fall down? What will make it fall down?

We would love to see your houses. You could post pictures on your learners journal for us to see.

Happy building

Good Morning

We love traditional tales in Nursery so I thought we would share another one with you today which you can find on your Learners Journal. I hope you enjoy it.

Maybe you could retell this story with your family too ?.

Mrs McNee , Mrs Farquhar and I have had lots of fun making the characters and houses from the story which you can see below🐷🐷🐷🐺You could try this too.

Can you remember the rhyme the wolf and pigs said in the story? Maybe you can use a loud voice for the Wolf and a quiet voice for the pigs ?

We would love to hear about your story telling in the parents contributions on your learners journal .

Have Fun

Good afternoon

Did you enjoy the story of Jack and The Bean Stalk last week and the selection of activities that we suggested ?

Mrs Woods has made a video telling the story of Jack and the beanstalk using puppets which she made herself which you can see on your Learners Journal today.

Mrs Farquhar and Mrs Glidden have also been busy making some Jack and The Beanstalk puppets which you can see below.

Maybe you could make your own puppets to help you to retell the story to your family?

You could use what ever you want and your puppets can be as simple or as elaborate as you wish. We would love to see what you create and hear about how well you can retell a story.

Please share you learning with us on your Learners Journal

Happy story telling!

Mrs McNee
