The Nursery have a collection of caterpillars and have been watching them grow. The caterpillars are growing quickly and soon will be ready to move onto the next transformation of their life. The children are learning about the life cycle of a caterpillar. The children have been learning some key words that identify each stage the caterpillar will take.   You may have heard some of the following words at home: egg, caterpillar (or larva)  and chrysalis (or pupa).

If you would like to learn more about the life cycle of a butterfly at home, follow the link to the children’s butterfly site. Its full of wonderful photographs and facts.

Sun cream reminder

sun

Please remember to apply sun cream, before bringing your child to nursery. Always read the instruction on your sun cream bottle, as some sun creams need to be absorbed into the skin a required length of time, before they are effective.  It’s important to cover exposed parts of your child’s skin with sun cream, even on cloudy or overcast days.

For some useful information regarding protecting your child’s skin during sun exposure, including a short, informative video on how to apply sun cream. Please click on this useful link: Child Safety In The Sun

Wraparound Photo Gallery

During wraparound we offer many opportunities centering the needs of the children.  Providing children opportunities to rest, play and learn together. At present, we have been talking and learning about Spring. We have recently created, Spring flowers, using hand prints and collage materials. Moving forward and taking lead from the children, we will be learning more about Easter. Recently we have been on local walks and enjoyed the local park. As the lighter evenings and warmer air develops, we will be taking advantage and spend longer periods of play outdoors.  We aim to carry out lots of woodland walks too!

Knightsridge Fairtrade Tea/Coffee Morning!

We are very fortunate to have a committed group of parents who attend our “Better Together Group” every Friday Morning. Together the parents and carers, create fantastic items which they sell at events throughout the year. Today, our Better Together Group, served Fairtrade tea/coffee and biscuits to our service users.

What is Fairtrade?

Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers.

When you buy products with the FAIRTRADE Mark, you support farmers and workers as they work to improve their lives and their communities. The Mark means that the Fairtrade ingredients in the product have been produced by small-scale farmer organisations or plantations that meet Fairtrade social, economic and environmental standards. The standards include protection of workers’ rights and the environment, payment of the Fairtrade Minimum Price and an additional Fairtrade Premium to invest in business or community projects.
