30 June 2014 – deadline for resolution of NQ Verification certification ‘Holds’
This is the deadline by when ‘Not Accepted’ decisions must be resolved to allow full August certification to proceed for candidates who are affected.
Please re-submit materials as soon as possible – and no later than 18 June.

School Co-ordinator conferences – June 2014
We are hosting five conferences to meet, support and listen to SQA Co-ordinators as we move into session 2014-15.
The conferences will focus on operational and qualifications developments and will include a range of keynote information sessions.

NC in Computing with Digital Media Event – 24 June 2014
This event is for centres currently delivering the National Certificate in Digital Media Computing at SCQF levels 4, 5 and 6 – and for centres considering delivering the revised awards in the future.
You will be able to see the new frameworks, find out what resources will be available, and speak to members of the Qualification Design Team who developed the revised awards.

CPD EVENTS
The opportunities at the University of Stirling are as follows:
- University of Stirling Postgraduate Certificate in Developing Leadership – for established teachers who have had some leadership experience/successfully completed the West Lothian in-house programme
- University of Stirling Postgraduate Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring – for middle and senior leaders who wish to develop their skills in supporting professional learning and who will have specific contexts to do so
- University of Stirling Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Practice – for early career teachers ideally in years 2 to 6 of their career. There is one common application form for the three Stirling programmes. Course information and application forms are available on edweb
(edweb>Services>CPD>Leadership). West Lothian Council will sponsor successful applicants in terms of paying for course fees. Head Teachers are required to endorse the candidate’s suitability. All applications should be printed off, signed by HTs and returned to the address below by Friday 13 June: Thank you for your assistance in sharing this information with staff. WL Introduction to Leadership Course – Briefing Meeting
Following our email of last week and a suggestion from a CPD coordinator colleague, Lesley and I will run a briefing session with a Q&A session at the end to support anyone who is interested in applying for the WL Introduction to Leadership course. The details are as follows:

These hugely popular events offer an exciting learning experience for students and teachers, allowing an exclusive insight into the Film Industry.
Media Day 1: Thursday 19th June, 10.00 – 15.30, Filmhouse, £6 per pupil, Suitable for S5 & S6
Media Day 2: Wednesday 25th June, 10.00 – 15.30, Filmhouse, £6 per pupil, Suitable for S5 & S6
Accompanying teachers free Doors at venue open 09.30. With breaks at lunchtime and mid-afternoon.
Each of our Media Days include the screening of a film premiere as well as the unique opportunity to hear from visiting film professionals. These events are suitable for S5 & S6 students and will be of particular interest to those taking Higher Media Studies or English.
