STEM Vertical Group: Flying object challenge

Mrs Burns and I have been missing our time with our vertical group and have created a STEM challenge that you can take part in at home. If you are not part of our vertical group and fancy joining in, please just go ahead. The more the merrier!

Different Plane Designs

We´d love to hear how successful your invention is or even see a picture of it. Email us at: wlfallahill-ps@westlothian.org.uk

We´ll include the pictures on our STEM sway so you can all see each other’s inventions.

Good luck inventors!

Letter formation

Morning all.

I was asked about letter formation yesterday and I suggested using this handy picture to help remind children which way round ‘b’ and ‘d’ go. I thought it might be useful to share on here in case anyone else finds it helpful.

If your child is doing any writing activities and is forming their letters or numbers the wrong way round, don’t worry too much. Just give them a gentle reminder about the correct way.

P1 Sway

Good morning P1!

Our Sway now has an “outdoor learning indoors” section as well as some music from Mrs Gorman. I’ve also added a couple of P1a’s favourite maths songs to the list: Jack Hartmann’s Months of the Year song and The Big Numbers song .

I’ve also tagged this post as P1 so if you need to find the link in a hurry you can just click on the P1 link at the left hand side of the school blog!

Primary 1 Fun
Good morning P1,
Go to this Sway

Hope you are all keeping well and managing to have some fun! I’m already looking forward to hearing what you have been getting up to. 🙂

Snow inspiration in P1a!

P1a have been making the most of the snow today by exploring how to create art in the snow.  There was lots teamwork and even more laughter!

The activities were child-led with a focus on discovery learning. If you look through the photos you will see evidence of colour-mixing, sculpture painting, dabbing, splatter painting, printing and shaping.

Can you spot where some of the children even made number dot patterns and wrote our ‘oo’ sound in the snow?

We started with a very exciting visit from Mr Armstrong who told us all about being a fire fighter.
